Day 1: Sofia - Transfiguration Monastery - Veliko Turnovo
Morning departure from your hotel in Sofia towards Central Bulgaria. Upon arrival, we will visit the colourful Transfiguration Monastery and will have some free time for lunch and check-in at the hotel in Veliko Turnovo. In the early afternoon, we will have a walking tour of the old part of the city with Gurko Street and Samovodska Charshia - the old marketplace. We will visit Tsarevets Royal Hill with the fortress, Patriarh`s complex and Baldwin tower - the leader of the 4th Crusade, who was imprisoned there.
Day 2: Veliko Turnovo - Shipka - Kazanluk - Plovdiv
Breakfast and departure towards Shipka Mountain pass, crossing the central and highest part of the Balkan mountains. We will have a photo stop to Shipka Memorial church. Our next stop will be Kazanluk - the centre of the Valley of Roses, known as well as the Valley of the Thracian kings. We will visit Kazanluk Thracian tomb - 3rd c BC, UNESCO site ( copy ). Our next destination will be Plovdiv - the capital city of Philip the 2nd of Macedonia. Plovdiv was the European capital of culture in 2019. Walking tour along the longest pedestrian street in the world with remains of the Roman Forum, Stadium and Djumaya mosque Square. Visit Kapana - the artistic neighbourhood of Plovdiv. Check-in at the hotel and overnight.
Day 3: Plovdiv - Sofia Breakfast.
Morning visit of the Old Plovdiv Architecture reserve with the Ethnographic museum ( so-called "Royal House" ), St. Constantine and Helena Church, the Ancient Theatre. Free time for lunch. Departure to Sofia. Upon arrival, we will have a panorama tour of the capital city of Bulgaria - Alexander Nevski Memorial Cathedral, St. Sofia 6th c basilica, Parliament Square, National Theatre, Presidency, St. George 4th c Rotunda, Banya Bashi Mosque, Sofia Synagogue, Arena di Serdica. Drop off at your hotel.
