Description

Chobe Camping Safari - 3 Days

Enjoy an epic overnight camping experience in Chobe National park with a three day, two night adventure! Start your experience with a morning boat cruise on the Chobe River, one of the highlights of the trip as you have the opportunity to get up close and personal with fantastic birdlife, hippos, crocodiles and scores of elephant and Cape buffalo that make their way down to the river to quench their thirst.

Enjoy a delicious lunch at Coffee Buzz restaurant, and then return to the park on one of our customised 4×4 game viewers for an afternoon game drive, being the best time to see Chobe’s large herbivores making their way down to the river to drink. Head to Camp shortly after sunset for dinner around the camp fire, and listen to the sounds of the bush around you as you slumber in your tent under the African sky.

Wake up at dawn with a friendly Botswana “dumela” (good day), and after breakfast head off on an early morning game drive. This time of day is best for finding the big cats or wild dogs as they are still active at this time and chances of seeing them are good. Return to Camp for a delicious “bush brunch” and an opportunity to read, rest or take a refreshing shower. When the day starts to cool off another afternoon game drive follows tea, and good sightings are revisited or areas as yet unexplored are visited. Return to Camp after sunset for a reflective fireside chat. Dinner follows, as always accompanied by the unforgettable sounds of the African night.

On your last day, enjoy a dawn breakfast followed by an early morning game drive – you may be lucky and even spot a leopard! Return to Camp for a delicious “bush brunch” and an opportunity to take a refreshing shower and to pack. Leave Camp on a final boat cruise on the Chobe River, before heading back into Kasane/Kazungula. This is the ultimate overnight camping experience and a wonderful opportunity to explore the best Chobe National Park has to offer!

Itinerary

  1. Visited Places:

DAY 1 - 7:00 AM: we depart from your Victoria Falls Hotel or Livingstone for the Chobe National park. This is a one hour drive that should see us at the Botswana border at about 0830hrs. We meet our Botswana Guide at the border and after border formalities and briefing on pertinent facts such as safety and some regional information we heard for the Chobe river jetty. - At 9:00 AM guests board the boat and commence a 3-hour boat game cruise into the Chobe National park. The river cruise is considered one of the highlights of the trip, as one gets the opportunity to get up close and personal with fantastic birdlife, hippos, crocodiles, and of course scores of elephant and African buffalo that make their way down to the river for the water. The boat cruise ends at 12h30 and a sumptuous buffet lunch follows at the Chobe Safari Lodge (or similar). - There is an opportunity to do some last minute shopping in Kasane, as there are no shops within the Park. An afternoon game drive follows and this is the best time to see Chobe’s large herbivores making their way to and from the river to drink. And this drive will take us to the camp shortly before sunset for drinks around the campfire and dinner. DAY 2 - Rise and shine, early wake-up with a cup of hot and refreshing tea and/or coffee. After a quick continental breakfast, we head off on an early morning game drive. This time of day is best for finding the big cats or and other nocturnals as they are still active and hunting and; with lucky on our side we may even find them on their previous nights` kills. Around mid to late morning we return to camp for a delicious “bush brunch” and an opportunity to take a refreshing bush bucket shower. - When the day starts to cool off another afternoon game drive follows tea, and good sightings are revisited or areas as yet unexplored are visited. Chobe National Park has a wide variety of game – the cats and large herbivores such as elephant and African buffalo being a highlight, but the rarer game such as Puku, Eland, Sable and Roan antelope among others can be encountered here. We return to camp after sunset for a reflective fireside chat. Dinner follows, as always accompanied by the unforgettable sounds of the African night. DAY 3 - After another dawn awakening, a quick cup of tea or coffee and some cereal we head off for another early morning game drive. This time of day again is the best for finding the big cats, we will try to track those distress calls and the Predators` victory celebration sounds that troubled you the previous night and chances of encountering the troublemakers are not uncommon. Around mid to late morning we return to the camp for a delicious “bush brunch” and an opportunity to take a refreshing shower. - When it starts cooling off, we pack up, break camp and leave the camp on the last game drive. Guests will be dropped off in Kasane at 4:30 PM (for those of our guests staying in Botswana) and in Victoria Falls or Livingstone at 6:00 PM.
