Rainbow Mountain Tour

Cusco - Cusipata - Rainbow Mountain - Red Valley

Our adventure to this wonderful mountain in Cusco will start early in the morning, depending on the location of your hotel. Our guide will pick us up between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., and we will drive in our private van to Cusipata town, where we will stop for breakfast. After enjoying our nutritious breakfast, we continue our drive to Llacto, 4,630 meters above sea level. Here we will start our hike towards the Rainbow Mountain.

Your guide will explain to you all the details and instructions. The hike takes around 1,30 hours through a gradual, ascending path. Along the way, you will observe different landscapes, such as snow-capped mountains, lakes, herds of alpacas, and local people dressed in colored vests.

Once you arrive at the view point located at 5,036 meters (16,522 feet), you will be amazed by the incredible colors of the mountains. These colors come from different mineral sidements formed hundreds of years ago. Your guide will explain each color and take you to the best spot where you can get stunning photos. You will also be able to see Ausangate Mountain, the highest in the Cusco region.

Once you have enjoyed the views, we will have the option to hike towards the Red Valley. This is a less-known area where only a few people hike; however, the views are unique. The valley is completely reddish due to the iron minirals and cley.

Then, you will make your way back to board the bus, then drive to Cusipata, where you'll get lunch.

Finally, we will have a 2-hour drive to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel.
