Lake Matka is the oldest artificial lake in Macedonia, the accumulation of which was built in 1938. The accumulation lake Matka, extends 7 km downstream along the Treska River, magnificently with its metallic gray - green color. A beautiful piece of untouched nature, rich in rare animal species and endemic plants just 15km from the capital. Something that rarely any country in the world can be proud of. Matka is home to a great treasure of natural rarities, rich oak and beech forests, beautiful pink flowers of Natalie's Ramonda, white headed eagles, the unique butterflies and speleological objects.

Light walk in Skopje old bazaar, with its unique craft shops, including visit to Kale fortress hill, with panoramic view to the old and new part of Skopje. Later on inside visit to Mother Teresa memorial house.
At 11 o'clock you will be picked up and after short drive to Skopje outskirts you will arrive at Matka canyon and lake. Explore the canyon filled with monasteries, medieval ruins, and natural caves by lake Matka, Macedonia's first artificial lake. Do not miss to peek the entrance of cave Vrelo, one of the deepest underwater caves in Europe. Hire of kayak or simply walking along the lake are just some of possibilities.
