Just across the Yangon River from the center of Myanmar's largest commercial city, you can visit the bustling called Dala to explore the colorful countryside surrounding and to see a wonderful mixture of sights. Dala is a small town located in the South of the Yangon River.
Unlike sightseeing places in Yangon, a short trip to Dala town definitely offer you a taste of Myanmar rural life. The government now is planning to build a bridge that will connect downtown Yangon to Dala Township. Upon its completion, the bridge is expected to give a boost to the development of several townships south of Yangon including Dala. To get Dala, take the local ferry ride from Pansodan Pier located at the end of Pansodan Road. The boat ride takes 5 minutes. As you get out of the ferry, join the rush of the crowd as commuters mingle with vendors and hawkers who carry a variety of local snacks on their heads.
Start the Dala Trishaw tour (one person/trishaw) by visiting the evening market and then go to an interesting Chu Chu recycle product workshop attached to the gallery and shop. It is Myanmar society enterprise re-designing waste material into a craft. It is one of the interesting places to visit at Dala. It is helping the locals how to recycle all waste material around them by creating crafts and beautiful gifts. The other workshop for a brief stop is at a candle- making workshop.
Continue to Shwe Sar Yan Pagoda, where a 150-years-old mummified monk has been kept in a glass case.
Next, stop at the local living quarter for many slums. The streets are lined with locals’ small houses made of bamboo on each side, which barely any walls and no doors or windows you are given a literal glimpse into their lives.
Return to Yangon.

1:30 PM - 2:30 PM: Get picked up by your guide from your hotel in Yangon. Transfer to Pansodan jetty by Taxi. Then board a public ferry to cross Yangon River. 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM: On arrival in Dala, take a trishaw ride ( One trishaw/ person) for nearly 2 hours to visit some small cottage industries and Shwe Sar Yan Paya. You are visiting some places where slums are living. 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM: Then head back to the ferry terminal and return to Yangon by the same ferry. And transfer to your hotel by taxi.
