HANOI CAPITAL TOUR
Duration: 01 day / Transportation: Car / Departure: Daily
Detailed itinerary:
08:00-08:30: Pick up guests at hotels in the Old Quarter or at the Opera House for a sightseeing tour of the capital city Hanoi. In the morning, the tour includes:
- Tran Quoc Pagoda - West Lake: The pagoda is located on an island in the eastern part of West Lake (Tay Ho district). With a history of nearly 1500 years with a Bodhi tree hundreds of years old originating from India, it is considered the oldest pagoda in Thang Long - Hanoi. The pagoda's architecture harmoniously combines solemnity and antiquity with elegant scenery amidst the serene backdrop of a vast lake. It was the Buddhist center of the imperial capital Thang Long during the Ly and Tran dynasties.
- Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex (including the Mausoleum and the stilt house area) - This is where the great leader lived and worked from 1954 until the final years of his life. Here, visitors have the opportunity to learn about the simple life of Uncle Ho. In addition, you will have the opportunity to stop by the One Pillar Pagoda to admire one of the 4 symbols of Hanoi.
Note: On Mondays and Fridays, the Mausoleum Management Board will conduct maintenance on the Mausoleum. Visitors will only be able to visit the exterior of the Mausoleum and then proceed to visit the stilt house area, the fish pond, and the One Pillar Pagoda.
On Monday, the Ethnology Museum is closed so it will be replaced with a visit to the Women's Museum.
Lunch: The group will have lunch at a restaurant in the Old Quarter area and take a rest. Guests can take a few minutes after the meal to stroll and learn about the names of Hanoi's 36 streets...
Afternoon: Guests continue to visit:
- Temple of Literature - the first university in Vietnam. It is an ancient architecture, built on a large scale in October 1073, and still exists today. The Temple of Literature was built to worship Confucius, the founder of Confucianism, and Chu Van An - the principal of the National University - representing the high moral philosophy of Vietnamese education.
- Visit Hoa Lo Prison, formerly known as a prison in Hanoi, Vietnam, also known as Central Prison or ironically Hanoi Hilton. It was built when Indochina was an integral part of the French Empire. Partially destroyed in 1990, it is now used as a museum.
4:00 PM: End of the Hanoi City Tour program, the car will take guests back to their hotel, or depending on the guests' preferences, the car can take them to the Shark Jaw area for independent exploration (self-pay for any expenses) at one of the following locations, then guests will return to their hotel on their own:
