Day 1:

Journey to Kibale Forest National Park

The drive for this Uganda chimpanzee and gorilla-trekking safari will last approximately 4 to 5 hours, including a stopover for lunch in Fort Portal town. Upon arrival at Kibale Forest National Park, you will check into the pre-booked lodge for a brief respite. Afterwards, you may either embark on a community walk in the Bigodi Wetland or explore the stunning crater lakes region for an opportunity to view the magnificent landscape. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at your designated lodge.

Day 2

Chimpanzee trekking, nature walk and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will report to the Kanyanchu Tourist Centre (park headquarters) at 08:00 am for a briefing on the rules for tracking the chimpanzees. Kibale Forest National Park has the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. The trek takes 2 to 3 hours and it will provide you with the opportunity to also see a variety of other primates, animals as well as birds.

You will return for lunch and a short rest after which you’ll be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You'll arrive late in the evening and check into your booked lodge.

Day 3:

Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

Following breakfast, embark on an early morning safari drive where you may encounter lions, leopards, giant forest hogs, Cape buffaloes, elephants, defassa waterbucks, Uganda kobs, topis, and bushbucks among others. Post the exhilarating drive, return to your lodge for lunch. Later in the afternoon, enjoy a two-hour boat cruise along the serene Kazinga Channel. It is a 42km channel that joins Lake Edward and Lake George. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific birdlife is colorful, with well over 550 resident species.

Day 4

Ishasha game drive and transfer to Bwindi Forest

Following breakfast, you will proceed to the Ishasha sector within Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its tree-climbing lions that perch on branches, vigilantly observing the herds of Uganda kob, which are their preferred prey. The park also serves as a sanctuary for numerous buffaloes and elephants, in addition to the elusive shoebill.

Lunch will be enjoyed at one of the premier wildlife safari lodges in this region of the park. Subsequently, you will journey southward to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Along the way, you will be treated to views of the magnificent countryside, bamboo forests, and the picturesque landscape that is typical of the Western Rift Valley. Arrival is anticipated in the late afternoon, at which time you will settle into your reserved lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5 :

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

You will have an early "Uganda chimpanzee and gorilla-trekking safari breakfast" and move to the park headquarters to join other trackers for a briefing about the gorilla trekking rules at 7:45 am. You will then start the trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the gorillas, which may take 1 to 8 hours. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, allowing access to tourists. Once sighted, you will spend 1 hour with the gorillas, observing at close range as they feed, play, communicate and bond with their young.

After all the activities, transfer to the stunning Lake Bunyonyi for dinner and overnight.

Day 6

Depart for Kampala/Entebbe
