The route start at londorosi gate just 3 hours away from the bounty town of Moshi, from there it goes through the rain forest area where some wildlife can be spotted there. The route proceeds to moir hut; the best place for acclimatization by hiking the lent hills, the next stop is in lava tower before a slight descent to barranco valley, there after there is the intimidating barranco wall that leads to karanga and the barafu hut. Summit always starts from the barafu camp and descent will follow the mweka trail

DAY 1
Moshi – Londorossi Gate (7,800ft) – Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp (9,500ft)
start our adventure by leaving Moshi for a 3 hours’ drive to londorosi gate, after all the formalities are handled , the drive will continue for one hour to lemosho trailhead . After arrival lunch will be served and we will start hiking through the wild and thick rainforest which leads to the first camp

DAY 2
Mti Mkubwa Camp (9,498ft) – Shira 1 Camp (11,500ft)
We progress with the trail that leads to the savannah grasses, heather and volcanic rock draped with lichen beards. As we continue ascending through the lush rolling hills, we will cross several streams and after reaching the shira ridge we will gently descend to shira 1 camp. Here you will get an amazing view of kibo across the plateau.

DAY 3
Shira 1 Camp (11,500ft)-Moir hut (13,800ft)
The whole day will be spent exploring the shira plateau- one of the highest plateaus on earth, you will experience the best scenery while here. As we head towards shira camp 2 we will join hikers from the machame route, and proceed hiking to shira caldera and diverger to an off beaten path to moir hut. The place is located at the base of lent hills, so if you have enough energy you may opt to hike on lent hills creating the best acclimatization opportunity.

DAY 4
Moir Hut (13,800ft)-Lava Tower (15,190ft) - Barranco Camp (13,044ft)
On this day we will head eastwards up a ridge, passing the intersection towards the peak of kibo. As we progress we change our direction to the south east towards the lava tower, known as shark’s tooth. Instantly after the tower, we reach the second junction which brings us to the arrow glacier at an altitude of 16,00ft. we then progress down to barranco hut at an altitude of 13,000ft. the trick of hiking high and sleeping low is best for acclimatization, and will assist the body for climatization day.

DAY 5
Barranco Camp (13,044 ft) - Karanga Camp (13,106 ft)
We will have a short day hiking to karanga camp. After winning the intimidating barranco wall, we follow a sequence of hills and valleys till we reach karanga camp. Enjoy beautiful sunset here with the magnificent sights of glacial valleys and ice fields towering over 3000ft above.

DAY 6
Karanga Camp(13,106ft) -Summit to Barafu Camp(15,331ft)
After having breakfast we leave karanga and campsite and hit the intersection which connects with mweka trail. From here we proceed to barafu camp. This will be the end of the southern circuit, which offers mesmerizing view of the summit from different angles. We will rest and enjoy a tasteful dinner as we prepare for the summit day.

DAY 7
BARAFU CAMP (15,331ft) -UHURU PEAK (19,341ft)- MWEKA CAMP (10,065ft).
Around midnight you will be woken up to start our trek to the summit. This part is more challenging compared to the other parts of trekking. After packing snacks we will start trekking to the summit between the rebman and ratzel glaciers through heavy scree up to Stella point on the crater rim.
After reaching stella point we will take a short break and stare at the most beautiful sunrise you are ever likely to see (weather permitting), from there we might encounter snow all the way up to the summit. After reaching the highest peak in Africa, take as many pictures as you can and indulge in your victory, your time here will be brief to avoid altitude sickness.
Start your descent to mweka hut campsite, making a stop at barafu camp for lunch, the trail is a bit rocky and can be harmful to the knees so trekking poles can be helpful here, after reaching the camp we will have our last dinner on the mountain and get some rest.

DAY 8
MWEKA CAMP (10,065ft) -MOSHI
This will be the last day of our trekking and we will begin it after having a tasty breakfast in the camp, our trek to the mweka gate will take about three hours. After reaching the gate you will be awarded with a gold certificate for successfully reaching the summit after that we will head to mweka village and meet our driver who will take you back to your hotel for a long well-earned rest.
