Day 1: Umbwe cave campsite

We will be picked up from the hotel and driven to the Umbwe Gate. Following completion of the gate registration requirements, the trip continues through the rainforest to the Umbwe cave campground, where all tents are already set up, before stopping for dinner and sleep. Today you'll trek through a dense forest, crossing slopes and valleys.

Day 2: Umbwe cave campsite to Barranco hut campsite

After breakfast, you will go through the remaining woodland to the moorland and heath zone, where you will be treated to spectacular views of the Barranco valleys and the mountain's ice crown. After that, you'll head to Barranco Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Barranco acclimatization

On Day 3, you'll go exploring near Barranco camp to get some much-needed acclimatization. Keep your camera handy to capture the groundsel-covered campsite's splendor. Day 4: Baranco camp to Karanga camp

Day 6: Barafu camp to Uhuru peak then to mweka camp

Follow many switchbacks between the Ratzel and Rebmann glaciers until you reach Astella point amid the thick stone screen (5,756m). This is perhaps the most difficult segment of the trail. After a brief rest at Stella Point, you'll climb for another hour along the crater rim before reaching your ultimate destination: Uhuru Peak!
