Mount Meru is located in Arusha National Park, so on the first day of the trek, accompanied by a ranger, you will have the opportunity to see baboons, buffalo, giraffes and other wildlife. You ascend through different vegetation zones of Mount Meru, from grasslands to rainforest, bogs to alpine desert. Mount Meru is below Kilimanjaro. Most of our clients use 4 Days Mount Meru climbing tours and activities Tanzania. This combination is also possible with us on request. We recommend you to climb Mount Meru Tanzania for 4 days as you will gain much experience than those who hike only 3 days and 1 day. The 3-day tour is also suitable for experienced and fit mountain hikers with altitude experience. On the third day of the shortened tour, after the summit you hike directly to the Momella Gate. Overnight stays are in simple wooden huts.

Distance: 6km, Hiking Time: 5 hours.
In the morning after breakfast, before departure, we will have a general briefing about your 4-day Mount Meru trek and check your trekking equipment. You will be picked up from your hotel in Moshi/Arusha. The drive to Arusha National Park takes about an hour. Once your guide has completed the necessary paperwork, the journey continues to Momella Gate, the starting point of your trek. Along the way you can see giraffes, zebras and many other animals. Due to the wildlife in the park, you will be escorted from Puerta Momella by an armed park ranger. The route takes you through the Ngare Nanyuki River, while walking along the river you can see herds of buffalo, baboons and other animals. Soon the Mount Meru Trek takes you through the forest on the first day, after about two hours you will reach the small Mayo Falls, here a meadow is an ideal place for your picnic. After relaxing a bit, continue hiking to the "Bow Fig Tree," a unique tree that spans the path like a gate. After another 2 hours you will reach the Miriakamba Hut. Here you will spend your first night on Mount Meru and relax for the next day of hiking. Having lunch; dinner

After breakfast, the hike on the second day takes you through the dense forest with mosses and beard lichen. After 3 hours you will reach Mgongo wa Tembo (Elephant Ridge) viewpoint. The hike is partly on wooden steps, as the path is steep and slippery in places. From this point you have a magnificent view of the large blown out crater. After a brief pause, the 2-second hike continues by changing from montane rainforest to thinning scrub to Saddle Hut. After lunch you will have the opportunity to climb to the top of Little Mount Meru (3820m). This trek will reward you with great views of Arusha National Park all the way to Mount Kilimanjaro. Distance: 19km, Hiking Time: 14 hours.
After a hot drink, your trek to the top of Mount Meru begins around 8:00 AM. In the morning drive through the bush to Rhino Point. The path becomes more and more demanding and you will find some easy climbing passages. As soon as the sun rises behind Kilimanjaro and the plain to Mount Meru begins to glow in a reddish-orange light, the strenuous ascent is quickly forgotten. On the descent, return to Saddle Hut for lunch and a hot drink, then continue to Miriakamba Hut, arriving in the early afternoon. Here you can rest and enjoy your summit success. After breakfast, the descent continues to Momella Gate along the Northern Route. On the way you will again be able to see animals such as buffalo, baboons, elephants. After a 3-hour walk, you will arrive at Momella Gate, where your driver will be waiting for you. After saying goodbye to your mountain team, you will be taken back to your hotel.
