Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with your arrival in Moshi or Arusha, where you will meet your expert mountain guides for a detailed briefing. They will go over the itinerary, safety measures, equipment checks, and final preparations before your climb begins the following day.
Your trek starts with a drive to Londorossi Gate, followed by registration with the Kilimanjaro National Park authorities. From here, you begin your hike through lush rainforests, home to Colobus monkeys, exotic birds, and other wildlife. The day ends at Mti Mkubwa Camp, where you will enjoy your first night under the African sky.
Leaving the forest behind, the trail ascends through the heather and moorland zone, revealing stunning views of Mount Meru and Shira Ridge. You will cross rocky ridges and valleys before reaching Shira 1 Camp, where you will settle in for the night.
A shorter trek today allows for proper acclimatization. You will continue crossing the expansive Shira Plateau, with breathtaking views of Kibo Peak and the glaciers. This is an excellent day to rest, adjust to the altitude, and prepare for the more challenging days ahead.
This is an essential acclimatization day, as you hike up to the Lava Tower (4,600m) before descending to Barranco Camp. This strategy, known as "climb high, sleep low," helps your body adapt to high altitudes. The stunning Barranco Valley and its iconic Giant Senecio trees make this one of the most beautiful sections of the trek.
The day begins with the thrilling Barranco Wall climb, an exciting but non-technical challenge. After reaching the top, the trail continues through the Karanga Valley, providing incredible views of Kilimanjaro's glaciers.
Today’s hike is shorter, allowing for rest and final summit preparations at Barafu Camp. After an early dinner, you’ll get some sleep before the midnight summit attempt.
Summit day begins at midnight with a challenging ascent to Stella Point (5,739m), where you'll witness a breathtaking sunrise over Africa. From here, a final push brings you to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa! After celebrating your success, you descend to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.
The final day is a descent through the rainforest, where you'll receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificates at Mweka Gate. A vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to Moshi or Arusha for a celebratory meal and well-deserved rest.
