The journey begins with a 35-minute drive from Moshi or 1-hour drive from Arusha to the Machame Gate at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, you’ll have lunch before completing park registration and luggage checks. The trek starts as you walk through the dense rainforest, where you may spot wildlife and exotic birds. You’ll arrive at Machame Camp in the late afternoon. After a short rest, enjoy a cup of aromatic coffee and a delicious dinner, followed by an overnight stay in spacious tents.
The day begins with breakfast at Machame Camp, followed by a steep ascent to Shira Plateau. As you pass through the rainforest zone and enter the moorland, you’ll witness breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. After a steady climb, you will arrive at Shira Cave Camp for your overnight stay, where you can enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and stunning vistas.
On the final day, you’ll begin your descent from Shira Cave Camp to Machame Gate. The descent covers a distance of 16 km, taking you through a variety of landscapes as you leave the high-altitude areas behind. After reaching the Machame Gate, you’ll receive your certificates of achievement and be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a well-earned rest.
This 3-day trek offers a shorter Kilimanjaro experience, allowing you to enjoy the diverse landscapes and stunning views without summiting the peak.
