6 Days Kilimanjaro Bike tour via Marangu route in 2024,2025
We all knows that Marangu Route is among the old routes. This being the case the route is well established, and hence has high traffic. People normally sleep in huts compared to other routes to Kilimanjaro. This being the case Marangu route has been preferred even for Kilimanjaro bike tour. Hence here we presentnt a 6 days Kilimanjaro bike tour via Marangu route which will ensure the summit success rate. This is the best sport bike tour towards the Mount Kilimanjaro. This route ensures success summit rate which is about 5895M high. 6 days bike tour itinerary provides better acclimatization as compared to 5 days Marangu Biking tour. It provides the visitors with the physical exercise and also enables them to utilize the natural environments within few days. Visitors aiming to reach the summit will use the Kilema Route (19km) where the bike ridders/ visitors will meet their porters at HOROMBO HUT. Then they will continue towards the Mountain. But those who do not intend to reach the summit bike ridding will start at LONDOROSI GATE/MORAMU picnic site and then back to MORAMU. This ride is 44km long.

Day 0: Arrival in Moshi for Kilimanjaro Bike Tour
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, Kizza Adventures’ driver will meet and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi. Meet with your guide for a tour briefing and gear check to ensure you're well-prepared for your upcoming adventure. You'll spend the night at a hotel in Moshi or Arusha, resting before the trek begins.
Day 1: Moshi – Marangu Gate – Kilema Gate – Horombo Hut
After breakfast, depart from the hotel and head toward Marangu Gate. Enjoy the scenic views of Kilimanjaro on the drive. At Marangu Gate, you'll meet your team of guides and porters and complete the registration. Afterward, a short drive will take you to Kilema Gate, where your bike adventure begins. Ride through the forest and moorland to reach Horombo Hut, your first camp for the night. Distance covered is 19 km, with dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.
Day 2: Full Day Acclimatization at Horombo Hut
After breakfast, set out for a day of acclimatization, cycling towards Mawenzi Hut through the Alpine desert. The route is mostly biking-friendly, with a distance of 10 km to be covered. Return to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight. This day is vital for adjusting to the altitude.
Day 3: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut – Horombo Hut
Start the day early with breakfast before ascending into the Alpine desert towards Kibo Hut. The initial 3 km of the route is rocky and challenging, requiring you to push or carry your bike. After the rocky section, cycling becomes easier as you cross the "Saddle" between Mawenzi and Kibo. Lunch will be served at Kibo Hut before you enjoy a thrilling descent back to Horombo Hut, covering 7 km downhill over technical terrain. Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.
Day 4: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut
Following breakfast, continue your ride to Kibo Hut, passing through the barren Alpine desert. The first 3 km will again require you to push your bike, while the remaining 7 km offers smoother cycling. Arrive at Kibo Hut for lunch and rest. Later in the day, you have the option to do a short acclimatization hike. Rest in preparation for the midnight summit attempt.
Day 5: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak (Summit) – Horombo Hut
At midnight, begin the final ascent to the summit. The initial 2 hours are a steep trek to Hans Meyer Cave, followed by another 3 hours to Gilman’s Point. At Gilman’s Point, you'll retrieve your bike from the porters and ride to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating and taking photos, descend back to Kibo Hut for lunch. From there, bike the remaining 7 km to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.
Day 6: Horombo Hut – Kilema Gate – Moshi/Arusha
After breakfast, enjoy your final ride down to Kilema Gate, passing through the varying landscapes of Alpine desert and rainforest. Once at Kilema Gate, you’ll be transferred to Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificate. Return to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro adventure.
