Birdwatching in the Ebro Delta

At the meeting point we will meet the guide to start the immersion experience to the Ebro Delta.

We will leave with the vehicle to the information point of the lagoon of les Olles where with the help of the map we will make an introduction to the Ebro Delta (history, geology, declaration of Natural Park). A way to understand how we have arrived at the current landscape with a pleasant and fun historical approach.

From there we will leave with the car surrounding the lagoon of les Olles to stop at the bordering rice fields where we explain the peculiarities of this crop, its irrigation system, its threats by invasive species and the daily struggle to keep it alive despite the difficulties in finding the balance between the crop as an economic resource and its survival at the environmental level.

We will continue the journey to the “hide” of the lagoon to spot the birds with the help of binoculars that we are going to give you. Thanks to the bird guide we will be able to identify which species the lagoon hosts at the time of visit.

We continue bordering the Bay of Fangar towards the Goleró. Old arm of the Ebro and point of accumulation of sea balls result of the oceanic posidonia. An immense meadow of salicorniales appears in front of us and invites us to enter the Natural Park of the Ebro Delta.

We continue through the green filter, wetland that filters the waters before they reach the Mediterranean Sea, a charming area that welcomes all kinds of birds including flamingos! From the viewpoint we can see the immensity of the Bay of Fangar and its mussels.

Finally we arrive at the Port Illa de Mar where we will explain the production of mussels and oysters, their daily struggles, their environmental problems and the exquisiteness of this product.

From there we will go back all the way to the initial starting point.
