JABUGO Ham Route by Jamones EÍriz JABUGO

Jamones Eíriz Jabugo is one of the oldest ham cellars, elaborating in an artisan way, in the Sierra of Aracena and Picos de Aroche, in Huelva, Iberian acorn-fed hams and cured meats.

An activity about the third best gourmet product in the world: Acorn fed 100% Iberico PDO JABUGO Ham

We try to share with our customers the respect of our environment, a way of life around the Iberian pig as a culture, a profession, the discovery of a Biosphere Reserve classified by the UNESCO, and to finish a unique and singular taste. We are part of the SOYEcoturista program who promote a green tourism and the preservation of our landscape.

DURATION: The visit duration is about 2, 5 - 3 hours, we try always to adapt the timeline to our customers as they wish.

LANGUAGE: We attend the tour with our guides in 5 different languages: Spanish, Russian (additional cost), English, French and German. On the morning, every day of the year including holydays and weekends. Reservation needed.

LOCATION: We are located at one hour from Seville, two hours from the airport of Faro or Jerez de la Frontera, in the marvellous Natural Park of Aracena and Picos de Aroche, grassland, oaks forest and cascade meadow, hiding little white villages.

We divided our experience in three phases:

FIRST STEP

We will visit the Dehesa (pastures), located at 100 meters from our cellars, in a little village called Corteconcepcion, where the Iberian pigs live in liberty. If the visitors are quite and silent they could touch the pigs.

We will show you in detail the natural habitat where we raise the pigs thanks to the oaks trees. You will know terms like montanera, dehesa, arrobas or quintals and we will learn to make the difference between a pure 100% Iberian pig from another. You also will know everything about the quality control that the PDO Jabugo realizes.

SECOND STEP

We will explore our naturals drying rooms and natural cellars, with their opened windows and natural air circulation.

We will analyze every artisan process of elaboration of this singular product, but also our cured meats. Step to step we will identify the most important secrets of this wonderful product. This step will be very hands-on.

Depending of the season (summer and weekends) some elaboration’s activities aren’t be done but we dispose of a panoramic screen in the installations to show you the complete and clear process.

THIRD STEP

Tasting, we will give a special tasting in our tasting room. We will cut ham in live, in front of the clients:

Ø Grain-fed 50% Iberian ham, pairing with a fruity white wine PDO Condado de Huelva.

Ø Acorn-fed 100% Iberian ham PDO Jabugo, pairing with a Generous dry white wine (like sherry) PDO Condado de Huelva.

Ø To end, acorn-fed Iberian cured-meat as a Caña de lomo or Lomito, pairing with an Orange wine PDO Condado de Huelva.

The amount to taste per person is a portion (100gr) made up of the two types of ham Finally, a tasting of acorn-fed Iberian cured-meat as a Caña de lomo and Lomito, (2 slices of each product)

If customers do not want wine, we offer soft drinks or water.

Please indicate if some participants are celiac to be able to adapt our tasting to their diet.

We use crystal glass and ceramic dish, individually.

We have in our facilities a little shop if the custumers want to buy some products.
