São Jorge Island: Cetaceans in the Heart of Azores
Find us and our biologists in the marina of Velas.
Before going to the boat, we will get everybody ready and informed about, safety, cetaceans in Azores, how do we find them, and also, legislation and rules of engagement towards the animals.
On your tour, for three hours you will search for cetaceans, which are wild marine mammals that move on their own agenda. With you will be a marine biologist at all times, so we encourage you to bring your own questions. We want to see the animals more than you do, believe us! And we try our hardest, but please try to understand that we're working with free, wild animals that live in a big ocean, so always remember to enjoy the boat ride!
We are looking for wild dolphins and whales, so there is no guarantee of a certain species, behaviour or reaction from the animals. In the Azores there is also different species to sight besides cetaceans. We are always looking for seabirds, like shearwaters, sharks, tuna and also turtles!
You can expect an immersive tour, with excitement for all ages, and a lot of interesting ocean informations and facts! Dive into the world of cetaceans aboard our boat and after we´ve done our time and saw the animals we will head back to the marina of Velas, where we can take some time to recap our sightings and answer more in-depth questions you might have.

We should meet 30 minutes before departure in our Kiosk by Velas Marina.
After our meet-up we will proceed to prepare for boarding by doing a safety, and detailed briefing about our tour.
We will go to the boat and be on the ocean for an estimate of 3 hours.
We will return to the marina of Velas.
