DAY 1: Lagos

Arrival and picked up by our assistant; Depending on the time of arrival, if you arrive in the morning, we will do a tour of the national museum, Lekki conservation center, Lekki craft market/ Balogun market to get localCloths, craft and maybe some artifacts. we can experience the nightlife in Lagos, Nigeria at the African shrine or at the moist beach club. Overnight in a good hotel.

DAY 2: Lagos

Pick you up from your hotel in Lagos for a quick run through Lagos mainland Makoko floating village and off to the island to relish the Lekki conservation center, the Lekki craft market, the national museum, and Nike art gallery.

DAY 3: Badagry-Seme-Cotonou.

Leave for Badagry very early to beat traffic. We shall visit the Badagry slave museum of history, the slave root, point of no return, and the house of former slave returnees who later became a slave merchant. From the slave museum, we will drive onward to the Nigeria/Benin border (Seme) and cross the border onward to Cotonou. Overnight in Cotonou. overnight in a good hotel.

DAY 4: OUIDAH, BENIN

After breakfast, drive to Ouidah the spiritual capital of voodoo religion, and was once a major slave-trading post. You will major slave-trading post. You will visit the voodoo Museum, the Sacred Forest, the Cathedral, and the Temple of the sacred pythons where you will see the 41 writhing pythons (41 is voodoo’s magic number). You will see followers and adepts of the various voodoo gods, from the elaborately costumed Zangbetos to the followers of Kokou. Around the edges of the main performance area groups from various voodoo temples perform their own rites and rituals, including visits to the common grave, the tree of forgetfulness, and the “gate of no return”. Overnight: Hotel Casa del Papa or similar. Visit the “Maison de la francophonie”, the Lovers’ Lane, and the floating market. After Ganvié continues to Abomey.

DAY 5: ABOMEY

Tours today include the Royal Palace Museum where you may have an audience with the King of Abomey. Abomey retains many reminders of its magnificent past including the Palace, the historical Museum, and the Royal Sepulchers bearing witness to brave and powerful people. Overnight at a good hotel.

DAY 6: Lome, Togo

Leave for Lome very early in the morning THE TOUR ON THIS DAY IN LOME Today we travel to Togo. After a 3 hour drive, you will be assisted through Togo immigration then begin the city tour of Lome and its vicinity. Visits include Independence square, the Artisans village, the national museum, the fetish market– the heart of traditional medicine, the fishing harbor, Art Street, and the Grand Marché, the realm of the famous Nana Benz ladies. Overnight at Onomo Hotel or similar.

DAY 7: Lome – Kara

After breakfast and checkout from the hotel or apartment, we shall travel to Kara. We shall make a stopover in Atakpame where you can buy fresh natural fruits, fried fish from Namgbeto River and have a look at the mountains. We shall continue our journey and make our next stop at Sotouboua and Sokode where you can visit the local markets and arrive in Kara late afternoon and check in to the hotel.

DAY 8: Kara

Today we will explore this village with its unique architecture and rich history. This day will be spent exploring the remarkable mud architecture of the Battamaribapeople who occupy the lush Taberma valley, a visit to Sarakawa National Park, and a stopover to watch the place where the former President of Togo had a plane crash in 1974 to see the remaining pieces of the plane and the monument of President Gnassimgbe Eyadema. The Battamariba’stwo-storied mud-dwellings with soaring conical thatch roofs are miniature fortresses that dot the Koutammakou landscape. It is said that the people of this region, who are agriculturists, are greatly connected to nature, symbolized by their dwellings, rituals, crafts, song, and dances. This cultural landscape has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight stay at Hotel La Douceur (1 night).

DAY 9: KARA - LOME

Here you will find magic remedies and voodoo charms used by local sorcerers. Late afternoon return to Lomé. Overnight at Onomohotel or similar.

DAY 10: TOGOVILLE - LOME - ACCRA

Today visits the slave house in Agbodrafo. Continue to Togoville, a red-earth village that was the homeland of numerous slaves taken to Haiti. Depart for Accra Arrival and check into a hotel for relaxation (maybe a night out to Osu oxford street) Other activities today will depend on our arrival time and preference. overnight at hotel 33 plus.

DAY 11: A city tour of Accra

ACCRA City Tour (visit to historical landmarks such as W. E. B. Dubois Center for Pan African culture, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Independence/Black Star Square, NationalMuseum, Osu (formerly Christiansborg) Castle-the the previous seat of the GhanaianPresidency, Jamestown, Kane Kwesi Carpentry workshop. Overnight at hotel 33 plus.

DAY 12: ACCRA-KUMASI

DAY 13: Trip to Cape coast/ Elmina

This morning we visit Kakum National Park, one of Ghana’s most famous parks. Take a brief walking tour on the forest floor; see birds, butterflies, and perhaps catch a glimpse of the forests of over 40 species of mammals including monkeys and the reclusive forest elephant. Proceed to the canopy walkway. Kakum is home to Africa’s only aerial walkway through the treetops, a 1000 foot long and seven-bridge walkway with viewing platforms that reach heights of over 150 feet above the ground. After lunch returns to Cape Coast and visits Cape Coast Castle and the Castle Museum for a guided tour. Cape Coast Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was one of the departure points for Africans being sent into slavery in the Americas. The castle is home to the infamous “Door of No Return”. Overnight in a good hotel on cape coast. A return trip to Accra for relaxation and departure the next day.

DAY 14: Relaxation at the beach, shopping, and departure.
