Highlights
Description
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek commences with a brief sightseeing of the major UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Kathmandu Valley. Where we shall learn the myths and history behind the significance of sites like Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, and Boudhanath.
After sightseeing, a scenic drive leads you to Pokhara. The Prithvi Highway provides picturesque views of lush rivers and streams. Take some time to explore the Phewa Lake of Pokhara. A short drive leads you to Nayapul and from here, commence the long walk to the Magar settlement of Ulleri. Traversing through the green terrain leads you to Banthanti, and after a short lunch, we arrive at Ghorepani.
Afterward, a beautiful morning hike to Poonhill awaits us the next day, and from here, we can observe the glorious sunrise illuminating the behemoth Annapurna mountain ranges. The elevated trail from Poonhill leads us to Tadapani. Walk on the banks of the Kimrong Khola and walk on the trail to the Gurung settlement of Chhomrong.
This village is famous for its agricultural products. Walking amidst rhododendron forests lead us to the Himalayas. The trail sees a sharp increase in elevation on the road to Annapurna Base Camp of 13549.87 feet. Marvel at the sight of the glorious Annapurna mountain range from here. From the base camp, we make our descent to Bamboo. After spending a night here, we head to Jhinu Danda. Relax in its tranquil hot springs and trek back to Nayapul, then to Pokhara and ultimately drive back to Kathmandu where the trip shall end.
IT BEST SEASON TO TREK
For adventure seekers wanting to capture the most beautiful time of the trip, it is recommended to visit Nepal at a time when there is no monsoon, usually either between September and December or between March and June. During this time there may be little dirt in the air, the skies being clear, and mountain views will be visible even from Kathmandu and Pokhara, Primary towns of Nepal.
Except for the monsoon season i.e. June-August, all other seasons are the best trekking season. So, it means out of four seasons, three seasons are good for trekking. You can experience wildflowers in the spring, quiet trails in the winter, and clear beautiful skies in the autumn. Therefore, remember to add this to your list in case you are wondering when is the best time to visit the Annapurna base camp.
However, in case you do come within the monsoon period, you’ll get a lower rate and it might be very smooth so that it will be easy for you to find accommodation or equipment in cities and in hiking regions as well.
