Desert Trip 4 Days/3 Nights Starting and ending in Marrakech
Day 1: Depart Marrakech towards Ouarzazate traveling through the High Atlas mountains via the pass of Tizi n’ Tichka. You will enjoy beautiful landscapes from viewpoints along the way and stop forpictures of the berber villages. Take a small road that goes to Telouet Kasbah where you will visit the Kasbah. Thereafter, continue through the Ounila Valley, where you will see small Berber villages before reaching the fortified village of Ait Benhaddou . Enjoy lunch followed by a visit to Ait Benhaddou. Continue to the city of Ouarzazate where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 2: After breakfast we'll depart towards the Draa Valley via the Anti-Atlas reaching Agdz. Your journey will then continue to Nkob and Alnif where we will stop for lunch. Travel to reach the small town of Rissani. (Note: Rissani’s local market activity takes place on Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday. We will visit the market on this day if it falls on one of those market days or on day 4 if it falls on a market day). Next, you will continue to Merzouga where you will prepare for your camel trek into the beautiful Erg Chebbi dunes. You will spend the evening in a bivouac (camp), enjoy a Moroccan dinner, and sleep in a traditional Nomad tent.
Day 3:Wake-up to a spectacular sunrise in the desert. Bivouac trekkers will return by camel and have breakfast. You will continue to the town of Erfoud on our way to Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves. You will reach Todra Gorges where the river is carved out of a cliff-sided canyon, and experience its beauty and the high rock sides where you can walk/trek through the gorges. You will continue to the Dadès Valley and spend the evening.
Day 4:After breakfast, you will depart for the Rose Valley. Thereafter, continue to the southern oasis of Skoura. Skoura is surrounded by acres of palm groves, which are a paradise of palm and olive trees dotted with surrounding kasbahs and small villages. Visit the amazing Kasbah of Amirhidil in Skoura. This Kasbah is situated by the Amirhidil River and is one of the largest in Morocco. Next, travel to Ouarzazate to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, known as the former Glaoui Palace. Following, you will have the option of a visit to the Atlas Studios before continuing our way back to the vibrant city of Marrakech, also known as the “Red City” because of its pink-tinted buildings. Drop-off at your hotel.
Option 2
Day 1: Depart Marrakech and drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the pass of Tizi n’ Tichka to Ouarzazate. You will visit the exotic Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou. Relax and enjoy lunch at the Kasbah of Taourirt that was a residence of the Glaoui Dynasty. You will continue to the Rose Valley and visit the amazing Kasbah of Amerhidil in Skoura. This Kasbah is situated by the Amerhidil River and is one of the largest in Morocco. You will spend the night in Dades Valley.
Day 2: After breakfast you depart for the Dadès Gorges via the valley and stop to enjoy the spectacular scenery where you can sip on mint tea also known as “Berber Whiskey”. You will continue to Tinghir via Boulman Dadès and visit this area, lush with beautiful palm trees. The journey continues on to Todra Gorges where you will enjoy lunch. After lunch you will continue to the small town of Rissani. (Note: Rissani’s local market activity takes place on Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday. We will visit the market on this day if it falls on one of those market days or on day 4 if it falls on a market day). Travel to Merzouga, bordering the Erg Chebbi Desert, where you will prepare for your camel trek into the beautiful Erg Chebbi dunes. You will spend the evening in a bivouac (camp), enjoy a Moroccan dinner, and sleep in a traditional Nomad tent.
Day 3:Here in the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, the largest in Morocco, bivouac trekkers will return by camel, and enjoy breakfast. Enjoy the panoramic scene of black volcanic rock on the plains, the bright blue sky, the green palm trees, white salt beds, mirages of water, and golden shifting dunes. Pass the lake in Merzouga to see the flamingos. Have lunch with our Berber family and friends. Your excursion will take you to the border of the Sahara Desert where you will stay the evening at a Kasbah alongside the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Day 4:Enjoy breakfast and continue to Marrakech over the High Atlas Mountains stopping along the way for lunch and to enjoy the beautiful, picturesque scenery. Arrive Marrakechearly evening and drop-off at your hotel.
