4 Days Private Hiking Berber Villages

Day 1: Marrakech to Tiziane via Imi Oughlad and Tizi n'tachte:

Embark on an early morning journey from Marrakech, heading south through the breathtaking Moulay Brahim Gorge and into the majestic Western High Atlas Mountains. As we ascend towards Imi Oughlad (1450m), the gateway to adventure, marvel at the towering peaks of Jbel Toubkal, Aglzim, and Aksoual. Here, we meet our Berber muleteer team and commence a two-hour acclimatization hike along scenic switchback trails, passing through cornfields, pine forests, and juniper woods. Pause at Tizi n'tachete (2000m) to admire the panoramic views of Imlikl and Ait Oussaden valleys before enjoying a delightful field picnic at Imi n'ifri. Then, we continue our leisurely descent for approximately 2.5 hours to the terracotta-hued village of Tiziane (1750m) for an overnight stay in a cozy bivouac or gite.

Day 2: Tiziane to D'knt via Tizi n'taghrhourte:

After a hearty breakfast, our journey leads us through the enchanting Assif n'ait Oussaden valley, where walnut groves dot the landscape. Ascend to Tizi n'taghrhourte (1995m), encountering a rare flat stretch en route to Assaka Spring, where we pause for a serene field picnic amid nature's tranquility. The afternoon brings a gentle descent along the forest's edge until we reach the Berber village of D'knt (1870m) or Agouns n Assoul. Here, we relish a delicious dinner and retire for the night in a bivouac or gite.

Day 3: D'knt to Tizi Oussem via Tizi n'tagdalte:

Our morning begins with a scenic three-hour hike through walnut groves, cornfields, and barley fields, encountering local shepherds and villagers along the way. Traverse Tizi n'tagdalte before descending amidst juniper trees to a serene spring, where we enjoy a rejuvenating picnic. Continuing our descent for approximately three hours, we arrive at the picturesque village of Tizi Oussem (1850m), with an optional visit to the summer village of Tamsoult for our camp or gite.

Day 4: Azib Tamsoult to Imlil via Tizi M'zzik:

Embark on a trek to the charming Azib Tamsoulte, where a small waterfall awaits exploration. Afterward, ascend to cross the Tizi 'n Mzik pass (2500m), soaking in the panoramic vistas. Descend into the main Toubkal valley and reach Imlil (1900m), where we indulge in a delicious lunch before bidding farewell to the mountains and returning to Marrakech.
