Description
Birds watching Guides Numerous local birding guides are available near the birding areas or in hotels and Lodges; who are well trained with enough knowledge about the areas and where to spot most of the birds, using guides you increase your chance of viewing more birds’ species. Although a two or three days birding safari will guarantee you viewing a certain number of species, we usually advice our clients to take longer trip of 7-10 days in order to view the maximum number of birds species available.
This a typical Birds watching itinerary, where you will have the opportunity to watch over one thousand bird species, beautiful landscapes and thousands of other wild animals. This is one of our popular itineraries from our menu of birding tours in Kenya. This birdwatching holiday goes to the fresh water Lake Naivasha, the alkaline lakes of Nakuru and Elementaita and the Masai Mara Game Reserve. With minimal transfers in the Rift Valley, all of your daylight hours are for quality bird watching. Naivasha with different habitats: freshwater lake, open savanna grasslands, and acacia woodlands present an opportunity to record a high number of Kenya birds species in a very relaxed way.
Lake Nakuru is not only for flamingos but also for numerous species of water birds. Masai Mara, the last section of this birding tour will not only be for birds but also for excellent game viewing. As always you can depend on our competent Kenya bird guides who will accompany you throughout the tour to be worth companions in finding, interpretation and appreciation of the many bird species you will come across on this birding tour in Kenya. Lake Nakuru National Park - dominated by a gentle undulating terrain with open bush and woodlands, typical of the dry rift valley vegetation. Twenty-seven percent (27%) of the park is composed of the Lake Nakuru waters. Lake Nakuru National Park lies in the volcanic – strewn Great Rift Valley, one of the chains of 8 lakes, which stretch the length of Kenya, Tanzania to Ethiopia.
160 kilometers from Nairobi, you will drive through the farmlands of the Kikuyu Community and drop down the escarpment into the dramatic floor of the Rift Valley. The lake is world famous as the location of the greatest bird spectacle on earth - myriads of fuchsia Pink flamingoes whose numbers are legion, often more than a million maybe two. Lunch will be served at a Lodge in the Park and thereafter another game drive en-route to Nairobi arriving before dusk. The Park was declared a Rhino Sanctuary in 1983. The Rhino stocking program which ensued received white rhinos from South Africa. Currently, the sanctuary has approximately 45 black and 31 white rhinoceros. The lake water is highly saline but supports a habitat rich in bio diversity including a variety of aquatic flora and fauna. The lake also is inhabited by water mammals mainly hippopotamus and claw fewer otters while the terrestrial part of the park supports a large number of other African plain mammals. The Park is also a sanctuary of the Rothschild's Giraffe
