Description

Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast - Private Tour

Your tour will take you to refined Sorrento, the pearl of the Sorrentine Peninsula. Visit the historic center and discover its hidden treasures, such as the Sorrento Cathedral, Baroque churches and the striking Cloister of San Francesco. Don't forget to taste limoncello, a local liqueur made from the area's lemons.

Next in picturesque Positano, a town nestled between the hills and the crystal clear sea of the Amalfi Coast. Here you can admire the view from the surrounding mountains and stroll through the narrow streets of the historic center dotted with fashion and local craft stores. Savor the local cuisine, famous for its dishes of fresh fish and Mediterranean vegetables.

To finish Amalfi lemon gardens, which throughout the year punctuate with yellow the somber green foliage on the mountainsides that plummet to the sea and blend with the colors of the water, which along this coast constantly change between turquoise, indigo, and emerald.

What to expect

Itinerary

Stop At: Meta, Meta, Province of Naples, Campania

The town of Meta is positioned on the Sorrento Peninsula along with the towns of Vico Equense, Piano di Sorrento, Sant'Agnello, Sorrento and Massa Lubrense. It is the second town on the peninsula coming from Naples, after Vico Equense; in fact, it overlooks only the Gulf of Naples.

Meta rises about 111 meters above sea level and covers an area of about 2.5 km², which includes both coastal areas, with more than 800 meters of coastline, and mountainous areas, with the hamlet of Alberi, the 642-meter Mount Vico Alvano to the southeast, and part of the Monti Lattari.

Although there are no real political divisions within the municipality, popular tradition sees Meta divided into two distinct parts: Meta "di sopra" and Meta "di sotto"; the former includes Alberi and the inland area of the town; the latter consists of the area in front of the coast.

Duration: 5 minutes

Stop At: Sorrento, Sorrento, Province of Naples, Campania

The city of Sorrento, from which the entire territory that, perched on the Monti Lattari, separates the Gulf of Naples from the Gulf of Salerno, borrows its name, is a renowned destination for international tourism: nestled on a wide tufa terrace overlooking the sea, it is a small, quiet resort town famous for its villas, hotels, parks and gardens, as well as its beautiful views and characteristic citrus groves.

Of Greek origin, and then growing under Roman rule, Sorrento today gravitates around Piazza Tasso and Corso Italia (on which the Duomo stands), from which the sea-facing side can be reached through a maze of narrow streets full of characteristic and lively businesses. The most striking view is the one observable from the belvedere of the Villa Comunale, which opens onto the harbor and the entire Gulf of Naples.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Pass By: Li Galli, Amalfi Italy

Gallo Lungo is the largest of the three and is the only one to have been inhabited since Roman times: it has an elongated shape that extends for about 400 m with a variable width that towards the center is about 100 m and towards the "head" is about 200 m.

West of Gallo Lungo are La Rotonda and Dei Briganti north of La Rotonda, the latter name given on the Positano municipality website,[1] although more commonly the island is referred to in texts as La Castelluccia.

The islets are covered with grass and shrubs, with an abundance of daffodils.

Stop At: Positano, Positano, Amalfi Coast, Province of Salerno, Campania

Positano is perhaps a unique place in the world! It is a jewel of spontaneous architecture, set on rock overhanging the sea. Clusters of colorful, sometimes cubic-looking houses are built on often very steep steps down to the beach, connected by alleys and long flights of steps.

If arriving in Positano by taking the coastal road, from Amalfi or Sorrento, offers sudden panoramic views from above over the small town, landing there from the sea is truly a unique experience that fills the eyes and soul with beauty!

And it is precisely from the sea, that around the 1st century AD the Romans arrived first, intent on building sumptuous seaside villas in Positano and along the Amalfi Coast 'for the exercise of their refined leisure'. The villa at Positano is said to have belonged to Posides Claudi Cesaris, a freedman of Emperor Claudius, hence the name Posidianum extended from the villa to the whole place.

Duration: 1 hour

Pass By: Fiordo di Furore, Fiordo di Furore, Furore, Amalfi Coast, Province of Salerno, Campania

Furore is one of the most picturesque villages on the Amalfi Coast. Ė a UNESCO heritage site and is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Known above all for its evocative Fiordo, it is also the home of Fiorduva, one of the most appreciated wines in the world.

A small reality with great riches all to be discovered. Furore will enrapture you above all for its landscape aspect.

It appears, in fact, as an evocative village nestled in a deep valley: a crib of little houses clinging to the slopes of the Lattari Mountains, untouched by the passage of time, nestled between sheer cliffs and rich vegetation climbing the rocky walls.

Pass By: Grotta dello Smeraldo (Emerald Grotto), Spiaggia Grande, Positano Italy

The existence of the cave was unknown until 1932, when a fisherman by chance discovered its existence.

The life of the fisherman, named Luigi Buonocore, changed totally, to such an extent that from the moment of discovery until his death the man was labeled as the "discoverer of the cave" (legend has it that Mr. Luigi was recognized on the street, until he took on the connotations of a "living myth").

The merit of this fisherman is truly enormous, since he brought to everyone's attention a wonderful space for tourist purposes, but also for scientific ones. Indeed, the cave is a magical realm, in which light takes on wonderful, fairy-tale connotations. When the sea is calm and the sun is high, the cave appears truly magical thanks to the reflections that the light is capable of generating.

Stop At: Amalfi, Amalfi, Amalfi Coast, Province of Salerno, Campania

Amalfi, a charming town on the Amalfi Coast, Italy. With colorful architecture and historic cathedrals, it overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its Mediterranean charm, terraced lemon groves and delicious cuisine capture the hearts of visitors. St. Andrew's Cathedral and museums tell its rich history. Breathtaking views and recreational activities make Amalfi a must-see destination. Ideal base for exploring other coastal gems. A magical place that captivates and enchants anyone who sets foot there.
