Favignana visit to the underground eco museum with lunch

The AEgusa Ipogea eco-museum is an innovative project that involves the creation of an eco-museum inside a tuff quarry on the island of Favignana.

the museum focuses on enhancing the location, combining video mapping, wall screens, real objects and observation areas of native and alien marine species.

The museum also integrates aquarium installations containing marine species, collected and subsequently released into their natural environment, followed by ROV machines (underwater cameras) that allow recording images and eco-environmental data, also disseminated to museum visitors.

In terms of methodology and technical aspects, the museum uses video mapping to create immersive projections inside the quarry, accompanied by a soundtrack, acoustic effects and voice-off narratives.

The virtual projections tell legends linked to the Mediterranean Sea, Greek deities and mythological heroes.

Furthermore, wall screen installations are planned which show paintings, glimpses of Favignana, the history of tuff extraction and the battle of the Egadi Islands.

VR technology is used to improve the cultural experience and allow a journey through the history of the quarries to the origins of the work activity.
