The trip to the sacred shrines of Uttarakhand starts with picking you up in Haridwar and you are going on the tour as it explained in the tour itinerary below:
DAY 1 - Haridwar - Barkot (210km / 7-8 hours). Altitude: 1352m
- In the morning meet our driver in Haridwar and travel to Barkot via Mussoorie, en route visit Mussoorie Lake and Kempty Fall in Mussoorie.
- Later on, drive directly to Barkot.
- Check-in the hotel on arrival to Barkot.
- Through the night stay in Barkot.
- Barkot Climate: generally pleasant in summer, the temperature level varies from 25-30C, wintertime the days are pleasantly cool nevertheless the nights are cold, temperature ranges from 10C to 5C.
DAY 2 - Barkot-- Yamunotri - Barkot. Altitude: 3235m.
- Early morning after brunch (packed breakfast), drive to Jankichatti/ Phoolchatti and start the trek from here to Yamunotri (6km) - either by walk or by horse or by Doli at your own extra cost.
- After getting a bath in Jamunabai Kund's warm waters and having 'Darshan' of 'Yamunaji' return to Jankichatti by walk. Afterward, ride back to Barkot and stay overnight in Barkot.
- Yamunotri Temple: Maharani Gularia of Jaipur constructed the temple in the 19th Century. It was destroyed twice in the present century and then reconstructed again. By Yamunotri, you can cook rice by packing it in a cloth and dipping it in the hot water of the Tapt Kund. Pilgrims take this cooked rice home as 'Prasad'. Here nearby the temple Pooja can be offered to Divya Shila.
DAY 3 - Barkot - Uttarkashi (100km / 4 hours). Altitude: 1352m.
- In the morning, soon after brunch, drive to Uttarkashi.
- Check in to the hotel on arrival to Uttarkashi. - Visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Uttarkashi.
- Through the night stay in Uttarkashi.
- Uttarkashi is home to a number of ashrams, temples. The name of the town reflects its correlation to and establishment (as north of) the city of Kashi (Varanasi). Similar to Varanasi, the town of Uttarkashi is similarly found on the shores of River Ganga.
DAY 4 - Uttarkashi - Gangotri - Uttarkashi (100km / 3-4 hours each way). Altitude: 3048m.
- Early morning hours after packed brunch ride to Gangotri.
- En-route at Gangnani get a holy bath in Garam Kund and then drive to Gangotri through beautiful Harsil Valley.
- Harsil is well-known for its natural charm and for the stunning views of the Deodar trees and mountain ranges.
- On arrival at Shree Gangotri, take a holy dip in the sacred river Ganges which is also called Bhagirathi at its origin.
- Conduct Pooja and Darshan, after that rest for a while in the wonderful surroundings.
- Later on, drive back to Uttarkashi.
- Through the night stay at Uttarkashi.
- Gangotri Temple: the temple was built by the Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the 18th Century, is situated on the right bank of Bhagirathi.
DAY 5 - Uttarkashi - Guptkashi (220km / 8-9 hours). Altitude: 1319m.
- In the morning right after breakfast, drive to Guptkashi via Moolgarh & Lambgoan.
- Enroute you can see the beautiful river Mandakini at Tilwara. The Mandakini river flows from Kedarnath, drive beside the river to get to Guptakashi, visit Ardh Narishwar Temple in Guptakashi.
- Check-in to the hotel on arrival in Guptakashi.
- Overnight stay at Guptakashi.
DAY 6 - Guptkashi - Kedarnath - Guptkashi (30km by the road + 18km hike one way). Altitude: 3384m.
- In the morning right after breakfast ride to Gaurikund, start your hike from Gaurikund to Kedarnath (or use Pony, Doli or Helicopter at your own extra expense).
- Visit Kedarnath Temple.
- Soon after temple Darshan hike down to Gaurikund.
- Later on, drive to Guptkashi.
- Through the night stay in Guptakashi.
- Kedarnath: The Kedarnath shrine, just one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot situated, versus the backdrop of the magnificent Kedarnath range. Kedar has one more name of Lord Shiva. According to myth, the Pandavas after having won over the Kaurava in the Kurukshetra war felt guilty of having killed their own brothers and looked for the blessings of Lord Shiva for redemption. He eluded them repeatedly and while fleeing got refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. On being followed he dived right into the ground, leaving behind his hump on the surface. The remaining portions of Lord Shiva appeared at four other spots and are worshipped there as his manifestations. The arms showed up at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, the belly at Madhmaheshwar and his locks (hair) with the head at Kalpeshwar. Kedarnath and the four above-mentioned shrines are treated as Panch Kedar.
DAY 7 - Guptkashi - Badrinath (160km / 7 hours). Altitude: 3133m. In the morning after breakfast time, drive to Badrinath.
- Check-in to the hotel arrival in Badrinath.
- Pilgrims shortly after having a bath in the Taptkund have the Darshan of Badrivishal & Aarti in the evening.
- Brahamakapal is important for Pinddan Shraddh of ancestors (Pitrus). There are various other interesting sightseeing places like Mana, Vyas Gufa, Maatamoorti, Charanpaduka, Bhimkund and the "Mukh" of the Saraswati River.
- Badrinath - one of the 'Ancient Four Dhams' is one of the most recognized pilgrimage spots of the country and is situated at an altitude of 3133 meters, guarded on either side by the two mountain ranges known as Nar & Narayan along with the dominating Neelkanth Peak providing a splendid backdrop. This revered place was one time carpeted with wild berries. Therefore the place got the name 'Badri Van', or 'Forest of Berries'.
- Overnight stay at Badrinath.
DAY 8 - Badrinath - Joshimath - Rudraprayag (160km / 7 hours). Altitude: 895m. In the morning after breakfast, travel for Rudraprayag through Joshimath.
- Visit on the way Narsingh Temple in Joshimath later drive back to Rudraprayag via Joshimath.
- Check-in to the hotel arrival in Rudraprayag.
- Rudraprayag is among the Panch Prayag (five confluences) of Alaknanda River. It is the confluence of rivers Alaknanda and Mandakini. Kedarnath, a Hindu holy town lies 86 km from Rudraprayag.
- Through the night stay at Rudraprayag.
DAY 9 - Rudraprayag - Haridwar (165km / 5-6 hours).
- Morning soon after brunch, travel back to Haridwar through Rishikesh.
- Rishikesh 'place of sages' is a celebrated spiritual town on the coast of Ganga and is surrounded by Shivalik range of the Himalayas on three edges. It is stated that when Raibhya Rishi did hard penances, God appeared by the name of 'Hrishikesh' and this area hence firth became called Rishikesh.
- Later visit Rishikesh Temples Sight Seeing, Laxman Jhulla, Ram Jhulla.
