Tamil Nadu Temple Tour

DAY 01: Arrive Chennai: On arrival, you will be met by representative of "Discover Activities, New Delhi" and transferred to the hotel. In the afternoon proceed for a half-day sightseeing of Chennai. Visit National Art Gallery, Fort Museum, San Thome Cathedral and drive past Marina Beach.

DAY 02: Chennai / Mahabalipuram :Drive to Mahabalipuram. Arrive Mahabalipuram and Check-in to your hotel. In the late afternoon proceed for sightseeing of Shore temple – a worlds heritage monument, Five Rathas, Arjuna’s Penance, Tiger Cave. Rest of the evening free to relax on the beach.

DAY 03: Mahabalipuram / Tiruvannamalai: Drive to Mahabalipuram enroute visiting Kancheepuram one of India’s 7 sacred cities. Visit the temples Ekambareeswara, Vaikunta Perumal, Kamatchiamman, Kailasanathar temple. Later drive to Tiruvannamalai – visit the Arunachaleeswarar temple. Overnight stay at the hotel in Tiruvannamalai.

DAY 04: Tiruvannmalai / Pondicherry: Beakfast at the hotel, late checkout hotel and proceed for Pondicherry. Visit fort of Gingee, one of the most beautiful forts in the world built in the 14th century. Pondicherry was a French State in India and still retains French feeling. Visit Aurbindo Ashram, the city of dawn, which is 10kms north of Pondicherry. Visit Auroville – a unique experiment in international living and living together in harmony. In the evening relax on the beach which runs along the city.

DAY 05: Pondicherry / Tanjore via CHIDAMBARAM: Breakfast at the hotel, later checkout and drive toward Chidambaram. Visit the Natarja temple with golden gopuram. GANGAIKONDACHOLAPURAM The rock carvings here are bold with a keen sense of detailing and style. Watch rock carving with huge temple elephant with the valiant guardians of the city. also other attractions are A huge Nandi, a dancing Ganesha and a lion headed well. DARASURAM It is a fine testimony to the amazing craftsmanship and genius of Chola architects. It is covered with mindblowing sculptures of Lord Siva in all his magnificence. Arrive Tanjore and checkin hotel. Later visit Brihadeshwara temple which is world famous in iits granduer, architecture and Paintings. Overnight at a hotle in Thanjavur.

DAY 06: Tanjore / Madurai: Drive to Madurai enroute visit the ancient Trichy Rockfort and beautiful Srirangam temple. Arrive madurai and checkin hotel. In the afternoon visit Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple, also watch Sound and Light show in the evening at 17th Century Nayak’s palace. Overnight at hotle in Madurai.

DAY 07: Madurai / Rameshwaram / Madurai :After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Rameshwaram- the most sacred temple town of India and an island mentioned in the epic Ramayana, where Lord Rama is said to have visited before going into battle of Srilanka. It is also one of the twelve Jyotirlingam shrines , be amazed to see its magnificent corridors and the massive sculptured pillars lining them. Return to Madurai for dinner.

DAY 08: Madurai / Kanyakumari: After breakfast at the hotel , checkout and proceed for Kanyakumari – the land’s end where the water of the Arabian Sea , the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean meet. It is famous for the Amman Temples dedicated to the virgin Goddess , Kanya Kumari. Also witness the famous Vivekananda Rock Memorial perched atop a huge island Rock. Savour the famous spectacular sunset at the beach of Kanyakumari.

DAY 09: Kanyakumari to Trivandrum Airport for Departure: Morning enjoy a sunrise o the kanyakumari beach. Later proceed to Trivandrum . After a short tour of Trivandrum , get transferred board the flight for onward destination.
