8:30 AM Visit Agra Fort
Visit the imposing Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Built by Emperor Akbar in 1565 CE, this huge fort is made of red sandstone. The elegant buildings inside reflect an interesting synthesis of Hindu and Central Asian architectural styles. The maze of the courtyards, mosques, and private chambers of the fort echo the story of the Mughal Empire.
10:30AM Visit Fatehpur Sikri
Located 37 km from Agra, Fatehpur Sikri was built by Mughal emperor Akbar in 1571 in honor of the Sufi saint, Sheikh Salim Chisti. It was the Mughal capital for 14 years after which it was abandoned due to a paucity of water. Made of red sandstone and combines influences from both Hindu and Mughal architecture.
02:00 PM: Time for Lunch at Multi-cuisine restaurant ( Not included in the price)
Later back to Agra and the last excursion in the city includes free time to shop for souvenirs (own expense). Agra is well known for its intricate handicrafts and embroidery work. Explore the area, and sit down for lunch at a local restaurant (own expense). At about 4:30 PM, hop back into your vehicle for the 3-hour ride to Delhi. Your guide drops you off at your hotel at about 7:30 pm.
