Description
Our first stop is the verdant and representative village of Crete, Potamies. We visit our traditional shepherd's farm where we will do many local activities such as the milking of the goats. Additionally we will taste traditional products such as fresh olive oil with herbs, freshly made cheese by the shepherd and rakomelo.
We will then start our interactive local cooking lessons! Let's take a dip into the Cretan Gastronomy by joining our local host in crafting authentic Cretan dishes using fresh, local ingredients. We will dive into the heart of Cretan cuisine and we will let the aromas take us on a journey!
Next stop is the Aposelemis dam, the largest water supply project in Crete. The village of Sfendili is submerged in the waters of the dam with its impressive old houses fading on the surface of the water. Also a natural wetland with a variety of birds.
We climb uphill on dirt roads to the gorge of Embassa as a result to experience impressive mountains and wildlife with unique views. This presents a great opportunity to collect some local herbs and learn about Cretan nature.
After that, we'll make a stop at the largest windmill line in Crete, located at the entrance of Lasithi Plateau. Here, we'll have a panoramic photo opportunity and learn about the history of windmills in Crete!
We proceed to the Lassithi Plateau. Hospitable place with authentic people. Visit a pottery workshop for the secrets of ceramic art as well as participate in the course for the creation of our own ceramics!
Time for a tour of the Plateau and contact with its inhabitants. Furthermore we will have a Stop at the local cafes to take a break.
Descending we stop at the picturesque village of Krasi. We ascend dirt roads to the Embassa gorge, where we experience impressive mountains and wildlife nature with unique views. This offers a great opportunity to collect local herbs and learn about Cretan nature.
Step into our quintessential Cretan restaurant. Relish slow-cooked local dishes from our traditional wood oven, flawlessly paired with local wines. Taste the true essence of Crete in every delightful bite!
We end our day with a tour in the Olive Oil Factory where we will be guided in order to learn all the details of extracting the olive oil. In addition after the tour we will have the opportunity to enjoy authentic local olive oil and local products.
Having enjoyed a route of beautiful images, we return to your hotel full of unforgettable experiences!
