Arrive in Accra, Ghana. Transfer to your hotel. Hotel check-in is at 3 pm. Upon arrival, Hausa Tours will welcome you to the Motherland with authentic, Ghanaian cuisine before you settle in for the evening.

DAY 2: SATURDAY DECEMBER 28, 2024 - ACCRA CITY TOUR

Embark on a full day city tour of Accra visiting the W.E.B. DuBois Center, National Museum and the Arts and Crafts market. Drive through Old Accra which was divided into Dutch and British Accra as a result of the two European nations operating from different locations within the same township of a little under 1sq kilometer. Stop at the Independence Square, Accra’s open-air ceremonial grounds where all national celebrations are held, for photo opportunity. Enjoy a welcome dinner with traditional entertainment including an exhibition by tailors and dressmakers who design casual wear and formal garments that are made from local fabric and textile. Evening is free to participate in any of the end of year parties in Accra on your own.

DAY 6: WEDNESDAY JANUARY 1, 2025 - SLAVE CASTLES TOUR

Today’s dress code is all white.

After breakfast, drive to Elmina with a stop to visit Cape Coast Slave Castle for a guided tour. Cape Coast Slave Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was one of the departure points for Africans being sent to slavery in the Americas. The castle is home to the infamous "Door of No Return". Visit the Elmina Slave Castle, another UNESCO World Heritage Site built in 1482. This castle was the first European structure built in sub-Saharan Africa. Check into your resort and rest of day is free to relax at the beach. In the evening, enjoy a New Year’s Day Private Beach Party with bonefire.

DAY 7: THURSDAY JANUARY 2, 2025 - KAKUM NATIONAL PARK TOUR

In the morning, you will visit the Kakum National Park to experience one of Africa’s Canopy Walkways suspended 100 feet from the forest ground for a panoramic view of the flora and fauna of the remaining vestiges of the rainforest. Lunch at Elmina Beach Resort. Rest of day is free to relax in your hotel.

DAY 8: FRIDAY JANUARY 3, 2025 - NAMING CEREMONY/ ACCRA

Today’s dress code is all white.

After breakfast, visit a typical Ghanaian community and pay a courtesy call on the Chief and his elders to participate in a traditional naming ceremony and claim your African identity by adopting a Ghanaian name. Travel to Accra by afternoon with a drive past the village of Abandze, the ancestral home of Louis Armstrong, the famous American jazz musician. Arrive in Accra by early evening; those who ordered custom made clothing will meet tailors and dressmakers for fittings and adjustments.
