Description
Tsminda Sameba, unmissable by night and day, was consecrated in 2004 after a decade of building. A massive and lavish expression of traditional Georgian architectural forms in concrete, brick, granite, and marble, it rises a staggering 84m to the top of the gold-covered cross above its gold-covered central dome. While largely bare inside, it does, however, contain many of Georgia's most important icons. The cathedral is five aisles wide, but its emphasis is on verticality, with a result like one single, many-bulwarked tower. The huge dome creates a larger, much brighter central space than you’ll find in most Georgian churches.
Turtle Lake (Kus Tba) can be described as one of the most favored places for the locals to go around in Tbilisi. Turtle Lake is located on the northern cliff of Mtatsminda Park. Don’t be confused when you hear the name Kus Tba. Turtle Lake is often called Kus Tba since the name “Ku” means Turtle in English. Turtle Lake located in the south-west of the city center, on the north slope of Mtatsminda Range, at an altitude of 686 meters above sea level, 10 kilometers from the center of Tbilisi.
Vake Park joins the green massif of Turtle Lake and thereafter, the green area of the lake, together with Mtatsminda Park, is combined into a joint green massif. In the northern part of the slope of Turtle Lake, there is an Ethnographic Museum located in the open air, which is the miniature model of Georgia. Along with open summer cafes and bars on the beach, there is a sports-recreational and cultural-leisure complex on the territory of Turtle Lake, which includes a mini-football stadium, children's entertainment playground, navigable and professional concert scene with pontoon, where various events are held during the season.
Funicular - mountain-cable way, the same tram, culture, and leisure complex on Mtatsminda plateau, Tbilisi.
