The flamingos and traditions of Camargue Nature Park
That day tour of Camargue will first take you to a bird park, a NGO, where many differents species live in harmony and where it is easy to observe them from the paths around the ponds. Then, a few miles away, the little town of Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-mer is a place to discover for its old church but as well for the cultural traditions related to it. In the history of Camargue a place not to miss is the famous Aigues-Mortes, built by the King Louis the 9th, and where the old walls shelter a 13th century church and lovely little houses. And just next to the fortified city, you will see the salt tables, another important site in the area, dating from the Antiquity and still in activity. Along the way, you will enjoy the view of the vines, the marshes and probably some horses and bulls grazing peacefully.

In the morning we will go by van to a bird park where we will walk for about one hour and watch the pink flamingos, egrets, herons and other birds of Camargue from just a few meters away.
Then we will resume the vehicule to aim to the closeby beach town of Les Saintes Maries de la Mer, a lovely town where we will visit by foot the impressive fortress/church of Notre Dame de la Mer from the 9th century, where we will walk in the little streets to discover the small white buildings and near the beach which goes along the town.
We will have a lunch in a restaurant (extra fee) of Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-mer OR you will bring a picnic
After lunch, we will take the van to go to the 13th century fortified city of Aigues-Mortes where we will walk inside the ramparts and where you can buy some souvenirs in the little shops of the place.
Before leaving Aigues-Mortes, I will show you, from the vehicule, the nearby salt tables and explain you the process to make salt.
