Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple

Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and Memnon Colossi

Visit the famous Valley of the Kings and the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut

You will be picked up from your hotel or cruise ship in Luxor and travel across the Nile to Thebes West on the West Bank of Luxor.

Located on the road to the Valley of the Kings, you are greeted by the two Colossi of Memnon, which once lined the entrance to the Temple of Amenhotep IV, which unfortunately no longer stands today.

Interesting archaeological discoveries have been made here in recent years and many of the recently discovered statues can already be viewed.

We continue to the Temple of Deir El Bahari, the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut.

The temple was built in several stages on a steep rock face at the end of a valley and is still very well preserved today.

Climb the steps of a staircase that Queen Hatshepsut once walked up to supervise the work on her colossal tomb.

The temple is very spacious and offers many interesting details.

Directly behind the rocks of Deir el Bahari in the neighboring desert valley lies Biban el Maluk, the famous Valley of the Kings

During the time of the New Kingdom after the time of the pyramids, the pharaohs found their final resting place in the Valley of the Kings, as did today's most famous child king, Tut Anch Amun, who died at the age of only 18 and was buried here

In 1922, the archaeologist Howard Carter discovered the almost untouched tomb of Tut Ankh Amun with the legendary Gol treasure, such as the famous golden death mask and countless private items of the king, which were once given to him on his journey to his afterlife.

The mummy of Tutankhamen now lies again in the sarcophagus of his tomb.

Visit some of the huge tombs consisting of numerous chambers, carved deep into the rock and richly decorated with colorful hieroglyphs, which were created over three millennia ago by great artists and craftsmen.

After the sightseeing, you will be brought back to your ship or hotel in air-conditioned vehicles.
