9 Day Egypt Tour: Cairo, Luxor, Aswan And Nile Cruise

Day 1 Arrival in Cairo, Egypt

When you arrive at Cairo International Airport, one of our representatives from “Egypt Best Vacations” will meet and assist you in completing the visa procedures, after which you will be transferred to the hotel for free time to get ready to start your 9-day Egypt tour and Nile River cruise.

Overnight in Cairo.

Day 2 Giza Great Pyramids, Sphinx and Saqqara

In the morning, your tour guide will pick you up for a visit to the Giza Plateau, where you will be able to see the Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure, and the great Sphinx. During your tour, you will be guided by an Egyptologist to learn what the pyramids were built for as well as why they were built. During your wanderings around the area, you will learn about the history of the pyramids as well as the truth behind the mysterious pyramid. Next, you will visit the Step Pyramid of Saqqara, the first stone structure ever constructed by King Djoser and his architect Imhotep, and drive back to your hotel.

Day 3 Fly to Luxor - Nile River cruise

After breakfast, transfer to the Cairo Airport for your flight to Luxor, where you will embark on your 4-night Nile River cruise from Luxor to Aswan.

You will meet your guide just outside the arrival terminal at Luxor Airport. You will then get to see the largest temple in the world, the Temple of Karnak, built by several pharaohs in ancient times, and the majestic Temple of Luxor, connected to the ceremonial avenue of the Sphinx. These temples were dedicated to Amun, Mut, and Khonsu, the Theban Triad.

Day 4 Kings Valley, Hatshepsut Temple and Colossi of Memnon

After breakfast on board, you will disembark to explore Luxor’s western side. First, you’ll explore the magnificent tombs of the Valley of the Kings, where the pharaohs of the New Kingdom buried their bodies to hide them from grave robbers. In the Valley of the Kings, there are 64 tombs. Among the tombs that are open to visitors, your guide will suggest the top three.

You will then drive to the Temple of Hatshepsut, the female pharaoh who served as a solo pharaoh for about 20 years after convincing the people that she was a man. Afterward, you will visit the giant Colossus of Memnon in the Temple of Amenhotep III and then return to your Nile cruise to set sail to Edfu via the Lock of Esna.

Day 5 Edfu & Kom Ombo Temples

Once you’ve finished breakfast, you’ll take a horse-drawn carriage to visit Edfu’s Temple of Horus, which was built during the Greco-Roman era and is the most intact temple in Egypt. Following the visit to the temple at Edfu, the ship will sail up to Kom Ombo to visit the twin temple of Sobek, the Crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon god, before visiting the Crocodile Museum near the temple. Following the temple visit, the ship will travel up to Aswan.

Day 6 Aswan Tour

Following breakfast, you will start your tour in Aswan. The first stop will be the High Dam, which was built in the 1960s to stop floods and generate hydroelectricity. Next, you drive to the granite quarry of the Unfinished Obelisk. Afterward, you will take a motorboat to visit the incredible Temple of Philae, which was built primarily during the Ptolemaic period. As a result of the dam construction, UNESCO had to move the temple to a new location.

Day 7 Disembarkation - Fly back to Cairo

Disembarkation. Transfer to Aswan Airport to fly back to Cairo. Transfer from Cairo Airport to your hotel. Free time.

Day 8 Egyptian Museum, Saladin Citadel and Khan El-Khalili

You will leave your hotel after breakfast to explore the amazing contents of the Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square. The museum exhibits hundreds of objects from all periods of Egypt’s history.

Following your visit to the museum, you will drive to the Citadel of Saladin, which was built in 1172 to protect Cairo from the Crusaders. At the citadel, you can visit the White Mosque of Mohammed Ali Pasha, which is one of its most prominent features.

Your tour will conclude in the largest market in Egypt, Khan El-Khalili, a historical bazaar. Transfer back to your hotel.

Day 9 End of your 9 Day Egypt Tour: Cairo, Luxor, Aswan And Nile Cruise

You will end your 9-day Egypt tour with a transfer to Cairo Airport for your final departure. It is really sad to leave, so ask our guides about your next adventure in Egypt.
