Description

QUITO HISTORICAL TOWN HALF-DAY TOUR ECUADOR

Quito, a Colonial city founded by the Spanish Sebastián de Benalcazar as Villa de San Francisco de Quito on December 6, 1534, preserves its history, culture, and tradition surrounded by numerous monuments, churches, museums, and pre-Inca streets.

Independence Square, also known as Plaza Grande, is the main square of the city of Quito (Ecuador), located in the old town of the city. It is the main square of the capital, the political and historical center of Ecuador, and the symbolic seat of the president of Ecuador.

The church and convent of San Ignacio de Loyola of the Company of Jesus of Quito, also known in popular Ecuadorian heritage simply as the company, is a Catholic clerical complex of the Jesuit order.

The church of San Francisco is a Catholic basilica that stands in the middle of the historic center of Quito, in front of the square of the same name. The structure is the largest architectural complex within the historical centers of all of America, and for this reason, it is known as “the Escorial of the New World.”

Virgen del Panecillo Monument, this structure of more than 7,000 aluminum pieces was designed and built by Herrán de Matorras in Madrid and brought in pieces by ship to Ecuador, it was finally completed in 1975
