TOUR ITINERARY

4 NIGHTS 5 DAYS MEERKATS & STARGAZING AT MAKGADIKGADI PANS NATIONAL PARK NON PARTICIPATORY LODGING & CAMPING SAFARI

Arrive at Maun International Airport. You will be met at the Airport by Marvelous Mobile Safari representative holding a sign board that reads “Marvelous Mobile Safari”. The representative will take you to your place of accommodation where you will stay for 1 night on a bed and breakfast basis at own expense. Lunch and dinner will be served at your own expense. The safari will officially begin the next day in the morning. You can do a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta at your own expense.

DAY 1: NXAI PANS NATIONAL PARK

Camping (Breakfast x1, Lunch x1, Dinner x1)

Wake up early and have your breakfast then we will depart for Nxai Pan National Park. Packed lunches and snacks will be served on the way. Upon arrival at Nxai Pan National Park, you will go for a short game drive. After a game drive, you will head to the campsite where you will find your tents ready. Then siesta time follows. After the siesta, you will join your Professional Guide for a game drive around the pan until sunset, the game drive will include a trip to Baines Baobabs. Baines Baobabs were named after the famous 20th century painter and explorer who painted this unusual group of baobabs during his journey through southern Africa in 1862. The baobabs stand on the edge of a large salt pan that, although dry for most of the year, transforms into a massive sheet of water dotted with water lilies during the rainy season from December to March. During those wet months, water birds abound at the lagoon and create a spectacle of great beauty. Come back to the camp, have a shower and dinner will be served under the African sky. Bedtime will be determined by the last guest.

DAY 2: MAKGADIKGADI PANS NATIONAL PARK

Camping (Breakfast x1, Lunch x1, Dinner x1)

The morning begins with a fresh, warm bucket shower, followed by breakfast and then you go for a morning game drive. After a game drive, you will head back to the camp where you will find the camp broke by the camp crew. You then depart to Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, entrance at the gate marks the start of our game drive. The game drive will take you to your campsite which will be ready and inviting. A delicious lunch will be enjoyed, then siesta time follows. Before your afternoon activity you will have high tea and then begin your game drive within the park to explore the amazing wildlife. The Makgadikgadi will provide opportunities to focus on semi-desert species such as elusive brown hyena, bat-eared fox or meerkats. You will spend a session with meerkats, following them on their activities. Return to camp for a much needed shower and dinner follows. Get a chance to soak up the wash of stars through star gazing, without any other source of light for kilometers around, the stars of Makgadikgadi burn bright, and it is spectacular. Bedtime will be determined by the last guest.

DAY 3: MAKGADIKGADI PANS NATIONAL PARK

Camping (Breakfast x1, Lunch x1, Dinner x1)

After breakfast you will go for a morning game drive in Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, which covers an area of 3,900 square kilometers. The region of vast open plains, salt pans and ancient riverbeds is home to large herds of springbok, gemsbok, Blue wildebeest, red hartebeest and the largest of all antelopes, the eland. During the game drive, you will be able to track the black maned lion of the Kalahari. The black maned lion of the Kalahari has a dominant color, its adaptation is very high and therefore it can survive in harsh conditions.African wild dogs, cheetahs, brown hyenas can also be found following their prey in this unmated wilderness. Come back to the camp for lunch and then have a siesta. After your siesta you will have high tea and resume your afternoon game drive. Come back to the camp before sunset, have shower and dinner will be served. Bedtime will be determined by the last guest.

DAY 4: TOUR ENDS

After enjoying breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive. After the game drive you will find the camp broke and loaded in the trailer by the camp crew, and then you depart to Maun where you will be dropped off at your place of accommodation or you will catch your flight back home. You will shake hands with Marvelous Mobile Safari representative at the Airport and goodbye.
