Itinerary
Train cemetery: After breakfast, we will head towards one of the most emblematic attractions of the region: the train cemetery. They are remains of the locomotives of the 9th century and the beginning of the 20th century. They are an unmissable attraction when visiting Uyuni, a place to take artistic photographs. These locomotives are of German and English industry and were used to extract mineral from Cerro Rico de Potosí.
Colchani: Located 23 km north of the city of Uyuni, Colchani is a town dedicated to the extraction and processing of salt. Here, families use traditional tools to carry out this process, and we will visit a museum that exhibits the art and history of salt production.
Eyes of the salt flat: These small holes on the surface of the salt flat have a unique characteristic: they are the result of the mixing of fresh and salty groundwater, which creates a boiling water effect.
Salt Hotel: We will continue our journey towards the dazzling whiteness of the salt flat, about 15 minutes from Colchani. We will make a stop to visit the Hotel de Sal and admire its fascinating architecture built with blocks of salt.
Picnic lunch: We will enjoy a delicious picnic lunch in the middle of the impressive landscape of the salt flat.
Incahuasi Island: This high island, formed by volcanic rock, offers a spectacular view of the vast white expanse of the salt flat. In addition to its impressive landscapes, it is home to enormous ancient cacti and a variety of fauna, such as vizcachas and hummingbirds.
Return: Arrival to Uyuni city between 19:30 to 20:00 hours approximately.
