Shamakhi District is one of the 66 districts and most historic cities of Azerbaijan. Then the capital of the legendary state is popular popular with its landscape and literature. The history of Shamakhi starts from 5th century BC and the first mosque of Azerbaijan - the Juma Mosque is located here since 8th Century. Though the city were destroyed by a terrible earthquakes but has preserved its antiquity and historical importance and today it attracts the attention of tourists with its nature and vibrant cultural features.
Lahij is one of the oldest settlements in Azerbaijan and is famous for its folk artists, unique traditions and beautiful natural landscape. The terrain is mainly mountainous and is 1200-1500 m above sea level. The village has more than 2000 years of history. Lahij is famous not only for its unique architecture and traditions, but also for its folk artists who create works that stand out for their beauty and uniqueness. About 127 fields of developed crafts should be noted here. Todat the masters continue making, leather production, blacksmithing and carpet weaving traditions. However, Lahij is best known for its stunning copperwares, which in the past were sold all over the Caucasus and today examples of them can be found in some of the world's top museums
