Overview
This is a 2 Day Intermediate Course, teaching you how to traverse and maneuverer your 4WD through a range of terrain when out in the bush, from hill climbs to river crossings, as well as how to preform a vehicle inspection ensuring that your vehicle is satisfactory to go out in the bush.

Smythesdale - 2 Day Intermediate Course
Smythesdale - 2 Day Intermediate Course
The 2 Day Intermediate Course will take you through the bush, teaching you how to safely use your 4WD. This course will also touch on other subjects lightly, such as preforming a vehicle inspection to ensure that your 4WD is safe to go out in the bush. This course is available at 3 locations and you may be doing it with other participants.
During the 2 Days, you will:
- Preform a Vehicle Inspection:
- Look underneath the bonnet of the vehicle.
- Identify key points of interest.
- Understand how to preserve and look after your vehicle.
- Learn what to do with your vehicle prior and after going out in the bush.
- Preform a Job Safety Analysis Sheet (JSA):
- Identify issues that could present them selves when 4WD and methods of how to resolve or prevent them.
- Go out in the bush:
- Learn about different techniques of traversing the bush with your vehicle
- Proceed to tackle the bush and it's elements:
- Preform hill climbs.
- Preform river crossing.
- Preform mud crossing.
- Recovery stuck vehicle.
- Preform final test:
- Answer test correctly to receive a Unit of Competency which is nationally recognized in Australia.
Prior to booking course, please ensure that you:
- Can operate a vehicle and hold a driving license that is acceptable to Australian Standards.
- Bring your own 4WD; this is best done by pre-booking a rental 4WD.

Itinerary

During your 2 Days, you will on:
Day 1:
- Trainer will introduce themselves and get a understand on your experience with 4WDriving.
- The Trainer will then lightly go over what the day is to entail.
- The Trainer will then go over their history of with 4WD.
- You will then complete a Vehicle Inspection activity.
- You will then complete a JSA (Job Safety Analysis) Sheet.
- You will then go out 4WDriving in the bush, learning about your 4WD's functionality, and when to said functionality appropriately.
- You will then come back to the training hub to go over what you have learnt in that day.
- You will then leave to where you are staying for the night. (Hotel, Camp Site, etc)
Day 2:
- You will then go over more 4WDriving scenarios in theory and learn about the best methods to resolve them.
- You will then complete another Vehicle Inspection activity.
- You will then go out in the bush, back where you were during Day 1, and learn more complex 4WDriving techniques, such as river crossing, hill climbing, etc.
- You will then come back to the training hub to complete your final assessment, passing this grants you a nationally recognized Unit of Competency within Australia which will be issued to you at a later date.
