Vilaflor village is located in the south-central part of Tenerife Island. Having 1400 meters height above the sea level makes it the highest village of Tenerife and Spain also. It was actually founded in the 16th century. Pine forests around this town and Mount Teide at a short distance have further increased the value of this site. In the north of it at 7 Km distance is San Miguel de Abona. Economic activity is generated by potato crops, almond groves, and wine production.
Interesting places for tourist to visit in this municipality is a geological structure created by erosion called Paisaje Lunar. Moreover, Springs of Fuente Alta preserved above sea level at an altitude of 1400 meters. Mineral water company Fuentealta fills water from this spring. Another attraction in Vilaflor is the oldest Canarian pine tree - El Pino Gordo what literally means Fat Pine.
Sanctuary of Santo Hermano Pedro has its own importance for those who'd like to discover the traditional architecture of Tenerife. It was built in the memory of Peter of Saint Joseph Betancur. Botanists are attracted towards this place due to pine trees, pepper trees, and eucalyptus. One can purchase artifacts carved from wood and embroideries.
