Taganana is a small residential area inside Anaga Country Park at a distance of 13 Km from the Santa Cruz. Surrounded by rock formations and virgin beaches, it offers cool air coming from the coastline.
El Bailadero is a perfect lookout point to take a panoramic photo of the village. In the past, it was the local center of wine and sugar cane production. Construction of road in 1968 ended the remoteness of this hamlet. Windy roads lead towards this place from Santa Cruz or passage from the laurel forests can also be utilized to reach here.
Regular bus service from Santa Cruz regularly comes to Taganana village. Islands old culture and traditions are still practiced by the locals. Small streets and Canarian style houses give information about living patterns. Historical architectural buildings such as Nuestra Senora de las Nieves church is among oldest churches of the Islands. Pictures painted in the 16th century are displayed inside the church which adds in the value and beauty of this place.
Near to Taganana are some other visiting sights like moving towards coast one can reach Roque de las Bodegas beach, continuing your journey further one can visit Almaciga, a small farming settlement. The weather of this locality remains pleasant due to which settlements are many making it largest town in Anaga. This is a worthy place to visit to enjoy the nature and local customs.
