Roque de las Bodegas is located in the north of Tenerife and is one of the busiest and largest beaches in the area of Taganana. Combination of black sand, pebbles, and shingle have added beauty in the scenery of this place. The coast is in the foot of the cliffs of Anaga Mountains and has an immense attraction for the visitors.
In the past, the Roque de Las Bodegas was a kind of harbor where from barrels with Canary wine were loaded to the trade ships through the cableway installed by locals on the rocks in the ocean. The name of the village comes from those times and it literally means in English - Rocks of the Wineries.
Many restaurants serve fresh fried fish on the edge of beach. By considering all factors attached to the beach’s location and climate, it can be deduced that this is one of the most family-friendly beaches in the area. Waves are few and quite gentle comparing to neighboring Benijo and Almaciga beaches. Sometimes, big waves come unexpectedly, therefore, tourists are advised to remain cautious. And do not miss to taste fresh fried fish and papas arrugadas with mojo sauce. Beach is semi-urban and can be accessed by car.
