Rocks of Garcia is the biggest attraction other than Teide in Las Canadas national park. These strange rock formations are called Los Roques de Garcia by locals. Unusual red rock called Cinchado makes the Rocks of Garcia attractive. While passing on nearby road, the Cinchado do not seems impressive so you will have to get close to view the real geological formation. Rock is being eroded persistently and will fall one day but fortunately the rock seems strong enough at the base and the many generations can enjoy the sight for years.
Most of the Rocks of Garcia are composed of polylithic and volcanic breccia. Area around this is highly guarded and is restricted with rangers and ropes. You might encounter with the guards throughout the year. Main reason behind this vigilance is that authorities wants the growth of endemic flowers and plants to make it easier for the less active visitors to see the species which otherwise they will have to see by hiking of miles. Without this much vigilance, the feeble plants might be crushed by the thousands of visitors. After all this area is a famous tourist attraction. Geologists and Geophysicists from various countries and departments visit Rocks of Garcia for their research purpose.
