Playa Blanca is one of the newest and most popular resorts on the southern coast of Lanzarote island, a.k.a the guarantee that you will not get bored and have a really good time! Around 2008, Playa Blanca, which previously was a small fishing village, got transformed and debuted as a resort town.
Here, you will find snow-white villas and hotels, countless cafes and restaurants, coffee and souvenir shops, boutiques, etc. The town even features Marina Rubicon, the street market that is opened twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so you may get lucky and happen to be there! As for the beaches themselves, the coastal line of Playa Blanca extends for 9 kilometers down to Pechiguera Lighthouse.
On your long walk along the shore, there are three famous beaches: Playa Blanca, Playa Dorada, and Playa Flamingo. The eponymous one is actually the smallest and the quietest, favored by the locals and consisting mostly of volcanic rocks and fine white sand. With relatively shallow and accessible waters, the beach is suitable for anyone. Playa Dorada is the most famous among the three, boasting soft waves of golden sand as a proof of its name, which literally translates as "the Golden Beach". The last one is the largest and arguably the biggest beach with white sand, perfect views for a family vacation and to see a sunset.
Apart from beach activities, you can as well visit the underwater museum, which is one of a kind in Europe! Museo Atlántico was opened in 2017 and contains 12 installations with about 300 sculptures of humans. With the flow of time, the stone figures have attracted the marine microorganisms, reviving the ecosystem in this part of the coast.
