Malpais de La Rasca is home to coastal and inland species of Canary Island as well as plenty of plant’s species. It is a protected area of 315.4 hectares situated in the municipality of Arona between Palm Mar and Las Galletas towns. Volcanic cones are noticeable features, specifically Montana Grande. Various endangered animal and plant species are there in the Malpais. Abandoned terraces, cabins, Salinas, the reservoirs, and caves are some highlights of the heritage. Punta de Rasca Lighthouse from 1898 inside this preserved area also show about the historical activities of this site. There some records that this place once has been used by the Guanche for their human sacrifices.
