For the travelers moving towards Everest base camp, Lobuche Village is the small settlement in their way and serve as the last night stopover for them. It is a famous stop among the locals as well as foreign trekkers who try to reach Everest base through southern route. From here, they can make a further stop at Gorakh Shep for lodging and enjoy the hiking of nearby Kala Pathar peak for an exclusive view of the Everest as the actual shape of Everest is such that it is not visible from the Everest base camp.
Elevation of Lobuche Village is 4940 m and it is situated at a distance of around 150 km from the capital city of Nepal. Lobuche East, Lobuche Far East, and Lobuche west have also borrowed their name from the Lobuche Village. This locality remained busy for the most part of the year and thousands of Sherpas and porters pass through this region on their way to base camp. Supplies are also transported through this way on yaks or via other means.
The lodging facilities at Lobuche Village are primitive. Stone made huts in traditional Nepali style would welcome you for night stay. It is in recent years that few sophisticated facilities are built here including 7 lodges providing 200 twin bedrooms. Internet and oxygen services are also available in some of the lodges. In short, trekkers must stay for a night at Lobuche Village for acclimatization.
