Chinyero Natural Reserve is created around the volcano Chinyero and situated next to Teide in the northwest of the Island of Tenerife. Last time, it erupted over a hundred years ago in 1909. Area of the site is about 24 square kilometers, entwined with wonderful geological formations between the towns of El Tanque, Garachico and Santiago del Teide.
Lava flows have created unique landscapes of the Canary Islands. Along with this, aeolian habitats which survive on the particles carried in the wind due to low vegetation are also there to see. The majestic sight of the El Chinyero catches the attraction of many visitors. 1560 m above the sea level altitude of the sight do not allow to miss the sight. The main volcanic cone of the Chinyero is a protected natural reserve since 1994.
Chinyero Natural Reserve area is clean and there is not any littering and garbage. Paths leading to the sighting point are laid out well. Geologists and Geophysicists have a great interest in the formation and underground phenomena of the Volcano. Natural beauty lovers must take a circular walk of about 5,7 Km long patch which is named as Chinyero Circle. Moving around in circle you would feel yourself to be in the age of dinosaurs.
