Bich Tong Pagoda is situated two kilometers west of Tam Coc in Ninh Binh region of northern Vietnam. Water has surrounded the cave temple from all side and the magnificent lilies of water would make you awestruck once you will see the majestic scenery of pagoda. Be there at the entrance of Bich Dong Pagoda on time if you wish to explore it fully.
Access to Tam Coc is easy as renting a bicycle or scooter would do the purpose. Half a dozen shops are also built in the center of town and do not forget to visit these shops. Pagoda was built in Chinese style architecture. There are three pagodas in it: Bottom Pagoda, Top Pagoda, and the Middle Pagoda. Bottom pagoda comprised of five rooms. Three masters named Chi Kien, Chi Tam, and the Chi The are worshiped in the pagoda. Two statues outside pagoda are Nam Tao, and Bac Dau, visited by the tourists all over the year. A big stone is also stationed in the memory of pagoda’s founder. You need to step 120 steps to reach the Middle Pagoda and then for the way back to Dark Cave. Fine and delicate carvings are also placed in front of the pagoda. If you could manage some time, stop for a while at the Giai Oan bridge. Five mountains can be seen from the Top Pagoda. Names of the mountains are Dau Cau, Gia Dinh, Con Lo, Tam Sang and Hang Dua. Pagoda has all kinds of beautiful attractions and no doubt it is a must-visit place from a historical perspective. Just after a five-minute ride from the town center, you will land at the Tam Coc Bich Dong. Renting a scooter will cost approximately 100,000 dong/day, however, the bicycle will cost half of this amount.
Entrance in the Pagoda is free of charge, nonetheless, save some money for parking. The entrance to Bich Dong Pagoda is amazing. You will see the arched concrete walkways and water lilies through its impressive gates. See the mountains from the balcony of the pagoda. At-least hundred steps of stairs need to be jumped in order to reach the Bich Dong Pagoda. Small bats and some beautiful statues also appear behind the haze of incense. Distant mountain peaks and vast rice fields are in front of the pagoda.
The best time to pay a visit to Pagoda in the early morning time. Moreover, it is a wonderful place to see the sunset. One can visit round the year this majestic place but the best time is between November to April. Annual rainfall happens between May and October and the majority of the tourists come to Bich Dong Pagoda during the rainy season.
