Anaga Peninsula is the wildest part of Tenerife. Before the pre-historic crater of Teide was created by huge erruption approximately 150 000 years ago, the Anaga was a separate island. Anaga Peninsula is the northernmost part of the island and in contrary to dry and hot southern part of Tenerife it is extremely lush and green. If you'd like to see the natural diversity of Tenerife, it is absolutely must do to visit Anaga. Anaga is also the name of Anaga Mountains and Anaga Rural Park. Upper parts of Anaga are covered with endemic rainforest - a kind of jungle that millions years ago was covering whole the North of Africa, including Sahara desert, and also South of Europe and Macaronesia. Beside the National Park Garajonay in La Gomera island this is the only place in the world where this endemic jungle survived. Anaga offers a lot of extremely scenic hiking trails and even from a car you can enjoy dramatic breath stopping views and landscapes.

It also a good place to go on hot summer days - temperatures are moderate and you can enjoy fresh and healthy air literally walking in the clouds. A lot of hiking routes and wild beaches.
