Bran Castle Tour
The Bran Castle aka Dracula's Castle was build in the 14th century by the King of Hungary, Ludovic D'Anjou. Its main purpose was to stop the ottoman invasion in Europe. The current location was not picked randomly, being build on top of small mountain, very atypical for a military fortress, on the border between Wallachia and Transylvania. There are two of the most important historical Romanian regions. Its name comes from slavic 'brana' which means either defensive wall or gate.
Bran Castle was basically, for hundreds of years, The Gate of Europe. Thanks to Bram Stoker first and later to Roman Polanski, first Hollywood director to use a footage of the castle in a movie Dancing with the vampires, Bran Castle became famous world wide. Year after year this famous attraction being visited by millions of tourist from whole the world. Even the Bran Castle is famous as a legendary landmark associated with Dracula, but there’s plenty more to learn inside its historic walls.
