If you are in Rijeka, a passenger vehicle will pick you up at 10 am in front of your accommodation, in Opatija at 10:35 am in front of the accommodation.
We will be on the trail at 11:15 am.
Our trail starts at Poklon (922 m). The route will lead through forest and meadows for about 1.30 hours until reaching Babin Grob peak (Old Woman’s Grave), a 1.012 m high hilltop sloping down into the sea.
On our way to Babin Grob, we will pass through the beautiful landscape of Nature Park Ucka. Gaze at the rich opening before you, have some rest. Take nice photographs.
From Babin Grob, we take a trail descending via the east slope of Ucka down to Medveja, a strip of coast with a beautiful beach. On the way down we will visit abandoned villages and take a peek into the history of Ucka, we will learn about how people used to live here, how life here used to look like, and discover some secrets and stories of this locality.
A cherry on top is to enter the sea right after the hike.
If you consider yourself a die-hard outdoorsman/woman, you can swim in the sea in the wintertime as well. It’s a vigorous experience!
Some previous downhill hiking experience is recommended. The lower section of the route has hundred-year-old stone stairs on our way down to the coast.
After the hike is over, a van will take us to the tavern offering home-made specialties including ravioli, tortelloni, wild-caught fish, seasonal forest food, and food made out of olives, figs, and other Mediterranean fruits. Enjoy dinner.
There is no backbreaking tempo and we rest as needed. Special attention is paid to scenic routes, interesting localities, and good food.
